About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to find the sickest powder stash in North America this winter while meeting cool, progressive peeps along the way. While here in WV I hope to expose others to the amazing sights, tastes, and sounds of Appalachia.

ABOUT ME

I moved to West Virginia in an effort to live a simpler and fuller life while not evolving into a 9 to 5er in the big city. I wanted recreation and adventure at my doorstep instead of down the highway. Weekend warrior just doesn't cut it!

I love to travel and eat good food with good people. My hobbies include snowboarding, skiing, whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, and a bunch of other stuff.

My travels have so far been limited to The US and Canada. I look to expand my horizons to include other continents in the near future. I've spoken to several folks who found couchsurfing to be an awesome way to meet new people while experiencing new things. Can't wait to host someone!

PHILOSOPHY

golden rule is always golden. Find something you enjoy and do it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to the couchsurfing network but have been working informally on the concept for years. I've hosted a multitude of traveling strangers who were referenced by other people that I know. The natural next step would be to use the internet to link to others with similar interests.

My primary goal in participating in the project would be to expose others to the amazing scenery of Southern West Virginia. It's our little piece of the West back here in the East. I also hope to crash on some couches at some awesome ski resorts- as it's pretty cold camping in the dead of winter at 8,000 feet!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was once booted off a couch in Colorado because I wasn't an official surfer.....My buddy was hosting someone from this site and couldn't bear to see his rating go down due to someone having to "floor surf". I understood the writing on the wall.....get my ass online and start participating in my couch destiny!

I've crashed on a lot of couches in my time. Some were after a night of partying in college while others were in various ski towns in Colorado, California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Idaho. I've always tried to be a leave no trace kinda couch surfer. Do some dishes, bring home some groceries....next thing you know you're an honorary roomate!

In the same vein, I've hosted a lot of couch surfers as well. Almost all have been pleasent experiences, save for those who couldn't hold their liquor overnight and those that missed the concept that to surf....you must eventually move on!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've watched my brother grow up from being a goofy little character to being an amazing visual artist. As one who is lacking in artistic skills, I've always found his works quite impressive.

I've also seen some crazy shit man........

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to teach someone to snowboard, or to kayak, or to mountain bike...or ride a unicycle, or maybe to talk a bit of spanish....or to discuss goals in life. I'd like to learn to kite board.
