About Me

CURRENT MISSION

runnin' with my hair down

ABOUT ME

I am a bit addicted to changing locations, which is probably a pretty common couch surfer ailment. I studied zoology in uni and am very fascinated by the natural world. I write music, sing, and play guitar (and various other instruments to some degree). My favorite part of traveling is spontaneous jam sessions/sing-alongs and getting amazing new listening recommendations from fellow music-loving folks around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Lately i've been really attempting to let go of trying to overly control things. I've never been too organized to begin with but am definitely finding that being flexible with expected outcomes makes life less stressful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I live in Cumberland, BC. It's an amazing little mountain village surrounded by forest on Vancouver Island with lots of fun events and outdoor things to do. Come visit!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Awesome! This site really does attract some of the most quirky, interesting, friendly and creative people in the world.

Interests

Music, campfires, tree planting (more of a way to survive than an interest...but 'tis what I do), being in the great outdoors, meeting fun crazy interesting people, dancing, and just to keep it original, traveling. I am a singer/songwriter and use this project as an excuse to travel to cool places and perform sometimes :). www.terezatomek.bandcamp.com

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I've done is a field course in Churchill, Manitoba. We were helicoptered into a remote tundra field camp with no one around for 200 km and spent a week exploring and doing permafrost research. Polar bears, caribou, and arctic foxes strolling right past during the day and unbelievable sunsets and northern lights at night..it was a pretty powerful experience. Churchill is definitely one place in Canada that shouldn't be missed if at all possible.

This past summer I went and guest hiked with my friend on the Appalachian trail, which was also pretty spectacular. The community and culture blew my mind. Google "trail magic".

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share songs and conversation. I like going to fun events, especially live music.
