About Me
Aaslema Couchsurfer! 🇹🇳 Aaslema is a greeting term in Tunisia, by the way. 😁 I'm really glad that you're checking out my profile! 🌟 I've poured a piece of my soul into this paragraph, so read it thoroughly. 😊
I'm Ahmed Aziz Jaidane, a Tunisian, 21-year-old young and free person. You can call me just Aziz. 🌞
I'm a Junior, or at least I'm supposed to be one, majoring in Finance in Tunisia. 📚 The thing is, I was accepted into a very prestigious and highly competitive exchange program called the Thomas Jefferson Scholarship Program (TJSP). Now, I'm studying Computer Science for the 2023-2024 academic year. So, I'm both a Finance 💰 and Computer Science 💻 guy. I was chosen out of 10,000+ applicants for TJSP to represent Tunisia in the United States, so I'm now a Tunisian Cultural Ambassador. Isn't this exciting? 🌎🇺🇸
I'm an active member of Civic Society. Back in Tunisia, I held various leadership positions with different organizations like AIESEC International, Lions International, Model United Nations, etc. 🌍 I strive to always improve as a person and make a positive impact on the world we live in. Even now in Kent, I'm active in different student organizations, mainly for Internationals 🌐, Environmental Awareness 🌿, and Business 💼.
I believe in this thing called Global Citizenship. 🌏 I always try to discover things about different cultures and meet diverse people. 🌍 I have a foundational belief that every one of us has their own story, and meeting a new person is just like reading this story. So, meeting new people, and especially people who've had different experiences from mine, is just like reading a book for me. 📖 And believe me, I love reading books. 📚 I love traveling because it helps me become a global citizen, "reading more books," and becoming more self-aware. ✈️
I also love my country Tunisia so much that I want to lead it one day and make it a great nation. 🇹🇳 I'm working on developing my leadership skills, and I believe that the most important leadership skill is Self-Awareness. 🧠
Now, I'm living in Kent, Ohio. My objective for this Academic Year is to REALLY Discover the culture of the US through travelling and engagement with Americans.
That's me, and I have many other interesting things to share. When we meet, we'll talk more about them. I would love to meet in person to hear your story too, dear Couchsurfer. 🤗🌍
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a cultural exchange student 🌍, and my philosophy for this exchange experience is to leave a lifelong positive impression about Tunisia and Tunisians among all the people that I will encounter 🇹🇳, because I am a cultural ambassador of my country. 🌟 In addition, I want to immerse myself as much as possible in American culture 🇺🇸. I'm on Couchsurfing to fulfill these two goals. 🏡
By meeting my hosts, I will introduce them to my beautiful country and share some pretty cool Tunisian experiences and traditions. 🌄 In return, I will have the incredible opportunity to interact with locals from different states, enabling me to gain invaluable insights into their diverse cultures. 🤝 When I visit a place, I'm always on the lookout for its uniqueness and authenticity. 🗺️ I firmly believe that traveling to different states and living with locals from each state is a perfect demonstration of the originality of each place. 🧭
There's one more thing to mention: I'm an international student, and both my time and budget are limited. 💸 I have a strong desire to explore all these states, but my financial resources are constrained. By couchsurfing, I can save some money on every trip, which will help me continue traveling to other states on my list. 🌎
So, that's basically why I'm on Couchsurfing – to bridge cultures, exchange experiences, and make the most of my limited resources while exploring the diverse and wonderful United States! 🌟🛋️

Music, Movies, and Books
🎵 Music: I'm a music enthusiast 🎶 and I pretty much listen to everything. I have a special love for discovering new songs, especially from different cultures. My absolute favorite music genre is Old School Hip Hop, I think. 🎤 One of the best songs I can think of is "Nas - I Can." 🎵 I found this song to be incredibly noble and inspirational for the youth. I grew up listening to it, and interestingly, it was released in my year of birth (2002). I love it so much that I highly recommend giving it a listen. It's all about the lyrics, so you better pay close attention when you listen to it. 🎧
Another favorite song of mine serves as my study buddy. It's an Arabic masterpiece called "Alf Leila wa Leila" by the Egyptian legend, Umm Kulthum. 🇪🇬🎶
🎬 Movies: My all-time favorite movie, without any doubt, is "The Godfather I." 🍕 It's not just my favorite; it's also my big brother's favorite, by the way. We both share a deep love for Italian culture, and he actually lives in Italy now. 🇮🇹 One of the movies that I admire is "12 Angry Men" because it brilliantly exemplifies the rule of "Less is More." 🎥 And then there's a particular Indian movie that I adore called "3 Idiots," which highlights the importance of knowledge over education. 🇮🇳 I highly recommend watching these movies if you haven't already.
📚 Books: I'm a bookaholic 📖 and I tend to lean toward informative books over narrative ones. Some of my favorite books include "Sapiens" and "Deus" by Yuval Noah Harari. 📚 I also have a deep appreciation for "Animal Farm" by George Orwell because it's both simple and profoundly meaningful. 🐷📚 And then there's a finance book that I hold in high regard, "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George Samuel Clason. 💰
These are just a few of my favorites, and I'm always open to discovering new music, movies, and books. Feel free to share your recommendations with me! 📻🍿📖
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just before I came to the United States, I made a life-changing experience back in Tunisia. 🇹🇳 I led a team of 15 people as an Organizing Committee President in an entrepreneurial event by the name of Bardo2Business organized by AIESEC in Tunisia. 🚀 It was the most challenging leadership experience for me, so far in my career. 💪 I conducted interviews for 30+ candidates to select my team members. 🤝 After selecting my team members, we had team buildings and different socials, establishing a strong team identity and culture. 🏢🎉
For three months (from March 2023 to June 2023), we worked tirelessly to make our event a blast despite our limited resources as students (because we didn't have any sponsors for the event, and that was very challenging, honestly). 💼 Our event philosophy was to connect students interested in entrepreneurship with startups from the Tunisian Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in one location. 🌐 We had Growth Hacks, Meetings, Trainings, and Planning nights. All that contributed to the success of our event. 📈 Bardo2Business became the best event held by AIESEC in Tunisia, so far. Over 40 startups from different sectors attended the event, along with 200+ students from all over Tunisia. 🚀✨
All we received was positive feedback about our event. It was truly an enriching experience for me. 🌟🙌
