About Me
Hey there! I am currently a healthcare professional working in Darwin, Australia. However, I was born in Sydney, Australia and have lived in Amman, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Los Angeles, Melbourne, and Canberra.
I spent my childhood in Abu Dhabi, and so it holds a special place in my heart. But I have lived the longest in Doha, although I don’t think I can call it home. I moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to study Bioengineering at the University of California, Los Angeles, and loved every second of it. Los Angeles is by far my favorite city—I left my best days and best friends there—and I yearn to go back there one day. I suspect that I may fall out of love with LA in due time. I think I just need to fall in love with another city.
As you can see, where I am from or where I call home is quite complicated. I always find myself pausing a little whenever anyone asks me that question.
In addition to medicine, I am very interested in politics and social justice. I think it’s important to fight for the rights of the disadvantaged and underrepresented. My political views are liberal/progressive. I love having political discussions. I think conflicting viewpoints and opinions are super constructive and help us form solid and logical opinions. I personally don’t believe in religion, but enjoy discussing it with religious people. I want someone to make me believe in a religion, because that has yet to happen nor will it ever.
I am pretty open-minded and down to earth and am against all forms of discrimination, whether it is on the basis of religion, race, class, gender, sexual orientation, etc. I can get along with pretty much anyone.
Message me if you would like to know even more about me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love people. I want to meet people. I want to make meaningful and deep connections with people from all over the world. I also think what makes a place is its people, the locals. To truly experience a place, you need to spend time with its people.
I also want to show travelers around when they come to my city. I know from experience how difficult and intimidating travelling to a different city can be, and if I can make someone's stay somewhere a little more comfortable and fun, then why not?
Interests
Books, hanging out, travelling, internet, computers, music, partying..
Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to anything really except country and rock. My favorite musicians are an Arabic band called Mashrou Leila. Check them out.
I think my favorite genre right now is hip hop, but that definitely changes depending on my mood and the time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have traveled quite a bit. I always book flights so that I can visit different unique places. I like having many transits where I can leave the airport.
Recently, I got accepted into medical school.
