About Me

I'm a curious person, interested in a lot of things. Travelling means to me to come to know other people, culture, habits, foods, etc.
Having been living in three different countries (10, 14 and the rest of my years...) and having been travelling quite a lot, I feel more a cosmopolitan than a citizen of a particular country. I love to broaden my horizon by travelling and coming to know different ways of thinking, living and doing thinks.
I've a good sense of humour.
Since I'm retired I live alone in a small apartment, in a small village in the black forest. It's a quite place, beautiful nature, almost no tourism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My daughter, who is at present staying in Australia, gave me the tip. She has experienced Couchsurfing there and was thrilled. I wonder why I didn't come to know it before. But: it's never too late... I've had similar experiences when I was a joung women, hitchhiking through the world and nice people invited me to her home. That's rather different then a stay in an impersonal and dull hotel room.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saved the life of an approx. 1,5 m snake. She tried to cross a country road with a lot of traffic. I stopped my car and went back to the place were she was lying meanwhile. I gave signals to the other cars to slow down and picked up a stick. I managed to get to her and she seemed dead, motionless. I paw slightly at her with the stick and softly I spoke to her: "You can't stay here, it's too dangerous. Come with me!" To my great surprise and happiness she followed me. But not in those elegant swinging movements as before - she moved like a rigid stick and stopped at the verge. There she formed an oval with her body and rested motionless. She was undamaged, but in a state of shock.
When my daughter told this story to some friends, one of them said: "So what, your mother is a doctor". But honestly..... I'm not used to be in contact and communication with snakes and I'm not trained for that...

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching:
I can teach you german, if you want. Or cooking. Or some Yoga Asanas or some meditation basics. Or maybe something which depends on my skills and your idividual interests and needs.

Learning:
I'm constantly learning. But it's not like in school: I don't know yet the lessons for tomorrow...

Sharing:
I'm a person who like to share, it's my nature. Even if my hands are empty I will find something to share with others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm an enthusiastic cook with a wide repertoire of possibilities. So I can prepare a nice breakfast, lunch or dinner à la carte for my host.
For someone who is willing to learn german I can be a patient teacher in daily life.
I'm as well a good listener and understand some languages. So you can share your sorrows, pleasures, wishes, goals and whatever with me. I can keep you company and we can philosophize together.
If you have pets: I love them. I'll cuddle them up.
I practise Yoga and meditation and if you want we can share.
