About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is to live as long and as healthily as possible.
ABOUT ME
Easy-going, happy, sociable, a little eccentric, unconventional, conspiracy theorist, friendly. I used to teach English to adults, but now that I'm retired, I do a couple of private classes, and I carry out a cultural activity which is like a concert/karaoke, with another teacher, singing rock and pop. We play in secondary schools. I'm a bit hippyish.
PHILOSOPHY
Do as you would be done by.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Because I think it's a brilliant idea to encourage people to see different places, and meet different people, without having to break the bank.
My first guests were a Polish couple. I've got happy memories of it. Since then I've had guests from Argentina, India, Morocco, France and Denmark. All of the experiences were positive, although I have my favourites. I haven't had anybody in my house for a few years, because my son lives with me some of the time, but I've met up with couchsurfers to show them around Tarragona and the surrounding areas. I would accept couchsurfing guests, but it would have to be at a time when my son isn't here, because my house is very small, and any guests sleep either in my bed, if they're a couple (and I sleep in my son's bed), or in my son's bed when he's not there.
I've never actually been a guest couchsurfer. I tried to go couchsurfing in Iceland, a few years ago, and in England, last year, but I couldn't find a host, so finally, I went to Iceland with Airbnb. It's disappointing, because I wonder if it's my age that puts people off, butI'll try again another year.
Interests
I'm not vegetarian, but I like vegetarian food, and I prefer fish to meat. I like eating healthily, but unfortunately, I have a soft spot for chocolate. I'm extremely active, although I do have a gammy knee, which means that if I dance too much or walk too much, my knee hurts. I love live music and meeting interesting people. I grow ecological food and herbs in my garden. I'm a naturist.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like watching British, American, and original version series (with subtitles). I'm a big fan of audio-books in English, but I like reading in Spanish and French (and German, if it's easy). I also enjoy going to the cinema, but I don't like going alone.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've done many strange and funny things and met many strange and funny people. My life has been very amusing, or at least my friends tell me that I should write a book about it. However, I think the most amazing things I've seen were in Turkey. The most amazing thing I've done is to travel in a balloon over a part of Capadoccia.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English. I could probably teach salsa dancing and Spanish and Catalan. I like to practice my French and my (awful) Turkish. I would like to learn more Turkish. At the moment, I'm getting into learning about growing ecological vegetables and medicinal plants, although I'm far from being an expert.
