About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Suck the marrow out of life

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Great way to meet people and have "real" experiences across the world (real experiences being the alternative to pre-packaged, generic tourist activities)

Interests

I'm a collector of interests. I will try almost anything and will probably become obsessive about it for a short time. Recent obsessions - barefoot running, motorcycle racing, web designing, VW Bus restoration, juggling, rock climbing, guitar, slack lining, pogo sticks, unicycling, parkour,etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Books: Outlander series, Ender's Game series, Omnivore's Dilema, Pillars of the Earth & World Without End, Stranger in a Strange Land, Life of Pi, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, Ayn Rand Novels ... I could go on and on. I love reading.

Music: Changes by the month, but blues and classic rock are always among my favorites. I'm pretty fond of my brother's music - Alex Guthrie - check him out on Spotify.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Fled drug moguls in Morocco; Touched the ground at 120mph in a turn on a motorcycle; Wrecked a motorcycle at 80mph without any injuries; Pogo stick jumped 6ft in the air, over a person's head; Calypso danced on the news (and no, I'm not a dancer and I don't know how to dance Calypso); Got lost in the Alps; Climbed the side of an erupting volcano, got covered in raining down ash; Sky/Scuba dived; Windsurfed; Snow/Wakeboarded; Snow/Waterskied; Saw human skulls preserved in a cave; Viewed a Mayan stone stella that had only been seen by one other person in over 1000 years (special permission from the head archaeologist); Ran 13.1 miles barefoot on asphalt ... many times;

Teach, Learn, Share

I LOVE learning and teaching (especially silly little tricks.) We can walk on our hands, jump off waterfalls, do yoga, surf, I'll tell you more than you ever wanted to know about jungle plants and animals, go free diving, slack line, try fruits you've never heard of ... anything new and unique is exciting to me or to you is fun to experience.

I would love to learn literally anything novel that you can do.
