About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring the important things in life-who I am, what makes me happy, what I Want to spend my time doing, and interacting with cultured people like you!

ABOUT ME

I'm a super easy going generic white boy on the outside, with many not so generic internal components. I'm a confirmed extrovert, and truly love learning about others and their life experiences. By day, my life is a mix between practice management, nerding out over how to effectively lead teams and motivate others, and constantly reminding myself not to sweat the small things. I'm also a big marketing strategy nerd. Essentially, I like getting into the minds of others to understand what motivates different people, why we make the purchasing decisions we do, and bringing that all back to how to effectively market.

By night and weekend, I'm a Houston's buff. History buff. Cultural buff. Food buff. Architectural buff! I love sharing our vast city with newcomers and showing them the ropes. Houston has so much to offer-I'm an ethnic food freak. Indie art venues and parks keep my relaxed, as does biking. I've been road cycling since 2007, and my biggest accomplishment (and one of the happiest weeks of my life) was riding in the 2009 AIDS Life Cycle (http://www.aidslifecycle.org/). The second best week of my life was visiting Costa Rica in 2014 with 8 of my closest friends, traveling cross country. I hope to add more countries to my list of travels very soon.

I love food period, and I'm always seeking out the latest and greatest culinary additions to our city. I have 2 great roommates, 1 awesome cat, 1 Pomeranian in the house that belongs to the Roomie, a bestie since high school that I'd be pretty lost without, and just a truly amazing circle of friends that are more like my family.

People that make me happy:
-Have some direction or passion in life, and actively work towards pursuing it. I don't care if its playing the fiddle or becoming CEO of google.
-Aren't afraid to try something new twice.
-Aren't homophobic.
-Don't give a rats ass what others think about them, but manage to still act like a respectable adult.
-Like, and do, give back to the world in some way.

PHILOSOPHY

Really, really easy: freakin' just treat everyone with the same respect you deserve to be treated with..just like your momma trained you (I hope).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been hosting in Houston since 2010ish, and surf on occasion when I run away from the thing that earns my paycheck. To say we've had some the coolest (great word choice, I know) humans cycle through this house would be an understatement...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted, surfed, and had some great nights with the CS community!

Thanks to Robyn for introducing me, and the local Houston CS'ers that enlightened me about their amazing experiences at meetups!

Music, Movies, and Books

Enya and Enigma, still to this day, are my best companion during my ME time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode my bike 545 miles over 7 days from San Francisco to LA, and raised over 4K for AIDS/HIV services in Cali (2009).

Skydiving! Greatest thrill ever (2011 & '12).

White water rafting Costa Rica (2014).

White water rafting again in Costa Rica (2015).

Teach, Learn, Share

I always love learning about how/when someone discovers their passion in life. Their mission in life..and how they plan to make it real. That's one of the big things I get from CS and meeting people from here. I LOVE being around folks that discover a passion, don't get paralyzed by fear, and go for it. It helps keep me reminded of my big picture, and the fact that change in not as hard as we make it sometimes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Houston: where to go, eat, do. My journey in life. Love nerding out over marketing anything, workplace psychology. My favorite yoga studio. An awesome couch to crash on.
