To laugh, love, work, play and share my self; it's much more fun, joyful, productive, silly and rewarding when there's more than one!

ABOUT ME

I'm vertically-challenged. A cancer survivor ( so far...so good ;). After many, many detours, I'm exactly where I want to be: comfortable in my own skin.

I have 3 fantastic, bright and rather sassy sons. One old good dog and a sweet outdoor cat. My garden is everything to me..until June; then it has to thrive on neglect because I live near and work in a tourist town. Summers are a bit busy and winter's are very, very quiet here.
I have a few wonderful friends. We love to talk, dance and eat - at home or out, depending on our budget.
Mostly, I'm pretty mellow, with the Irish temper more or less in check ;). ( Guys, just please, put the toilet seat down )
I'm a decent cook, a good baker and a terrible carpenter...but I try! My home is a work-in-progress. That is, you may arrive to find I've torn down a wall or am re-tiling the bathroom.
I like to keep things pretty tidy, but not perfect. I fu=igure some flowers and a few candles can overwhelm a little dust or a few stray cobwebs. Especially in Spring, when anyone with any sense is outside anyway!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe we face two choices, moment to moment: love or fear. I try my best to keep turning toward the light...and to not take my self too seriously ( with only limited success, at times )

I'm looking forward to hosting, altho' my couch is not the best. Soon enough, I'll have a spare bedroom ( or two ), since I found this site for my son, who will be CS-ing his way away in the near future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no experience yet. Although I've certainly slept on friends' couches!

Bright Eyes ( Cassadaga), The Shins, Dave Matthews Band, Good jazz ( ie: Bill Evans Trio, Ruth Moody, R&B, Motown, Classic Rock, all kinds of Meditation & "massage" music... even learning to enjoy some o' that Hip Hop
I'll read anything, almost.
Pleasantville, Blast from the Past and Princess Bride are a few of my favorite movies... but again, I try to keep an openmind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to a nursing home to give Massage to a very elderly woman with Alzheimer's. As I worked with her, she was so happy and grateful. The love and pleasure just shone from her eyes. It was one of the holiest moments I've experienced with another human being... and, of course, she didn't know me when I returned. So it was also the most humbling!

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you how to do faux finishes ( for painting walls, etc ) or how to make a mural...or use a dip pen to write in calligraphy. Or how to make my aunt's Danish recipe ( hint: lots and lots of butter )
