ABOUT ME
**I live in Biloxi, not Jackson!!!**
I'm a high school teacher and forever student of English and French (failing miserably at the latter) with dreams of traveling and leaving the world a little better than how I found it.
I'm inquisitive, a little shy, extremely tolerant, and I'd like to think tolerable! I bring shame to my Irish heritage every time I pick up an alcoholic beverage, am a bit clutzy and absentminded, and absolutely love a good story even though I couldn't tell one to save my life. *sigh*
My goal on CS is to meet others that are and are not like me. To learn, make friends, and actively be a better educated, global citizen.
PHILOSOPHY
I saw this beautiful Sufi poem that I think captures a great deal of my evolving personal philosophy:
"Come, let us be friends for once; let us make life easy on us; let us be lovers and loved ones; the earth shall be left to no one."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I enjoy meeting new people, so at the very least if I can show you around town or chat with you over coffee/food I'd love to meet you. If I'm able, hosting is even better.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far so good!
Interests
Learning!
The ocean, it's a whole different world!, and I've recently became scuba certified to explore it.
History and mythology
Gardening (I've got a brown thumb though I'm trying to keep it green!) and the environment
Writing, reading (I'm voracious), finishing school
Politics, though I'm trying to get a better viewpoint. I hate it's either this party or that party.
Food and Cooking
Fitness such as dancing, swimming, running the bridge (we have a beautiful bridge here that has such a great view), and eventually wind surfing. I've got to build up the upper body strength first!
The creative, the strange, the beautiful, and the supernatural.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I usually prefer action, crime, mystery/spy movies when I have a minute to watch them. I also love the paranormal.
Music: Almost anything.
Books: slightly obsessive relationship with books and the written word in general.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My favorite travel memories have got to be:
1) Mountains in West Virginia. I've never seen so much green go so high!
2) Standing on the steps of Sacre Coeur in Paris, France as the sun set around 10pm. Breathtaking.
