About Me

Hi,

I'm Becca, from County Durham in the North East of England.

I'm a really happy and enthusiastic person with many hobbies and interests. I love photography and getting out into nature to explore and capture images. I love festivals and particularly enjoy rock and metal music. I'm very family orientated and have close relationships with my family and friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a dream...it’s beautifully simple, yet wonderfully complex...

I want to inspire travel through stunning images and to make travel feel achievable for everyone...all without spending a penny.

Sounds impossible, right? I like a challenge!

Why?!

Before I tell you about how I hope to make this dream come true, let me spend a brief moment on the why. I want to do this because for so many years I felt like travelling, real travelling was something that other people did. I looked a beautiful pictures taken in locations I’d never heard of and thought, wow, I’d love to go there...but I probably never will. I was desperate to travel and experience more than the simple one resort holiday that I’d previously enjoyed. I wanted to see the world, but it felt like there were so many barriers to this; money, companions, logistics and yes, fear.

In 2015, I lost my step-Dad - a wonderful man who’d helped raise me. This isn’t turning into a sob story, but my perspective shift came almost instantly when I realised that time is literally, the only thing we have and I was constantly telling myself, ‘one day.’ By 2015, the barriers to travelling felt even larger; mortgage, career, family, pets, friends etc. but Instagram was a thriving community by this time and the travel photographs that I saw daily, simply inspired me to the point of action. I took a couple of travel holidays and started, slowly, beginning to see the world. I found that my stories and photographs inspired friends and acquaintances to begin taking the plunge too and I realised that this was exactly what I wanted to do with my time.
Now, in 2018 - I’m ready. I’m determined to make this dream a reality and inspire and support anyone else who wants to do the same.

But...without spending a penny?

Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t because I can’t or don’t want to save up and make myself afford my dream. In fact, the reason is entirely removed from that. The reason that I will do this without spending money is because money is the single biggest barrier that I felt in the past (companions / travelling alone being a very close second). I will destroy that barrier by making this dream come true without money. There are a few small caveats to this (travel insurance etc.) and I have a detailed plan of how I hope to accomplish all of this!
