ABOUT ME

Well, hello! My name is Becca, I'm 26 years old and I am an aspiring international traveler/volunteer. I live in Grand Haven, Michigan, and am currently working the restaurant scene, though one of my passions is doing hair, as I do that on the side. I have three years of undergrad college under my belt, but am currently on hiatus from school. Though I have a deep love for learning, the purpose of the hiatus is mainly to attempt traveling and learning in an alternative way.

My travel resume is not the largest, but I enjoy the thrill of navigation and experiencing the unknown. In spring of 2011, I had the wonderful opportunity to partake in my first volunteer abroad experience. I stayed in the small town of Dharamsala in northern India, and taught conversational English to Indian women for five weeks. I have also completed a month-long stay in Rabat, Morocco in spring of 2012, where I taught English as well! As of now, I have recently come back from spending 4 months volunteering and living at a Yoga Retreat/Community on the Big Island of Hawaii during the winter of 2012-13. The combination of traveling and volunteering opened up an entirely new world to me! Aside from that, I have done small volunteer projects in the past near my home, which have included coaching, building houses, and green cleanups.

I have an insatiable need to be elsewhere and experience as much as I can. I believe it to be a benefit to all to have the pleasure to continue to travel and help out simultaneously, as well as meet new people and immerse myself in other cultures. I'm easygoing, analytical, appreciative, and a little sarcastic. I can make most people laugh (including myself), I'm a positive thinker, and I have a love for food that even I can't understand. I am constantly baffled by the wonders of the world, no matter how small!

I just want to see the world! Any thing adventurous that might happen to intervene while I'm trying to do that, well, I'll take it.
