About Me
Hi, I'm Ben. My Canadian stereotype game is unreal. Polite, Maple Syrup, Hockey, Cold, you know eh?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am backpacking Eastern Europe this summer and have had such amazing couch surfing experiences in the past. I love meeting locals that can tell me about where they live, or their travels, or just hang out.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm blessed having been to 28 countries, and living in a great one. I have so many amazing memories from North America and had such an incredible experience with crazy stories while backpacking.
One of my fav memories, from one of my first overseas trips, was when I was 18. I went to Haiti to do some construction/volunteer work. At the end of one of the work days, some of the long-term volunteers (a couple Germans), took us to meet some of the locals to hang out. A couple hours later we were on a beach. To one side, a gorgeous ocean view, the other, a crowd of about 50 Haitians cheering and yelling. 5 of us volunteers (2 Germans, a guy from western Canada, my best friend and I), were playing a 5 on 5 game of soccer, aka football, with the locals. We could hardly speak a word of each other's languages, and we were dripping in sweat running together.
I mean... they kicked our ass, haha, but I remember thinking how amazing it was that... I was nearly 3000km away from home, in a poverty-torn country, spending time with random people around the world, in this beautiful place, just so content with life.
