Overview
About Me
I'm moving to Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands to start a two year contract working for the public defender's office. For the last ten years I have been working as a human rights lawyer, focusing mainly on access to essential healthcare for people in prison. I'll probably return to that work after my time in Saipan. I needed a break to get some perspective and think about different ways to practice law.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While I look for a place to rent in Saipan I need somewhere to stay for a few days and I'm hoping to make new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
I just finished Tales of the South Pacific by James Michener. I never thought I would be a Michener fan, but this book was very well written and great for learning about Americans and native islanders in WW 2. It's really a book about people, not war, though the backdrop is the campaign against the Japanese occupation of the South Pacific.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to cook. I'm happy to help with cleaning and projects. I'm a bicycle mechanic. Before Saipan I was in Fiji almost three months and I can tell stories about how to get off the tourist track and meet great people there.
