About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live my dream instead of dream my life

ABOUT ME

I'll tell you a little story which is mine. I grew up in the Jura mountains In france. My parents had a farm, lost in the middle of nowhere, with just some cows and vegetables, no school, no shop for miles around ! My best relationship was an old man who was taking care of the garden, giving me raw beans to eat, and hunting the snakes while I was playing outside. The summers, my dad used to invit people from all around the world, what a nice way of life... But one day, my parents had a second thought : " maybe it would be a great idea if our children could go to school ".So, we moved to the East and I had normal life until my seventeeth year. Not stupid, but bored by secondary school, I went in Ireland during seven months, travelling here and there, always on the road !Now, how to describe myself ? Well, i'm 22 years old and I live since a couple of year in Strasbourg. At the moment, I have a flat-sharing with two friends and I'm studying sociology. I could say that I'm an easy-going and open-minded person, I rarely care about the daily problems of the life. You'll understand that i'm in a constant need to discover new places, talk with unknown people, and that's why i'm trying the CS experience !

PHILOSOPHY

" Don't worry, Be happy " said Marley !

Seriously, I consider myself as having a hedonistic and traveller soul. We got only one life, so we must enjoy it ! I'm not afraid by death or by poverty, but i'm scared stiff with boredom. I couldn't imagine a life in which I would be waiting until the end of the month to pay my bills and my new cellphone ... That's why I try as possible to get away from consumer society in having fun and discovering new ideas, new coutries, new people... I'm fastly sad when I have the feeling to be in a fossilized future !

Add to that, I don't like the fact to impose something. We live in a world where politics try to introduce some universal principles and where people always want to be right. For me, there is nothing outright, it's all relative and it depends on your viewpoint. I think that exchange and tolerance are the key of harmony between people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just signed up to CS so I guess I need some references before to be able to write something here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Even if I'm new here, I had the opportunity to participate in several CS experiences. Actually, one of my best friends use to invit Csurfers in Strasbourg, and I often met them for parties, coffees or anything else...
Add to that, during out travel in Europe, we made a lot of Csurfing, and that's the point which gave me the idea to create my own account, 'cause now I know the functioning and each time we had with others members was great, so no reason for me to not try CS !

Interests

Well, i couldn't live without music, withouth travelling and without my social life with all my acquaintances. I think it makes up the pillar of my life. After that, i'm also interested by my studies and how the world is going on, that's why I keep be informed of the current affairs and particularly cultural events.
To put it in a nutshell, on one hand I got some difficulties to stay alone and on the other hand i'm realy curious, so I have always an ear or a hand available to any kind of discussions or activities, from fishing to social games, throught cooking or any crazy idea human being could have, I try insofar as possible to continuously have something to do.

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES : Generally, I'm interested by movies with a message, especially english and irish director like Ken Loach or Shane Meadows. I'm also fan of Coen brother's humour or Tarantino's madness, Scorsese's intrigues, Charlie Chaplin, Jarmush philosophy etc.
Some titles : My name is Joe / This is England / Big Lebowski / Pulp Fiction / Apocalypse Now / Deadman / Trainspoting / In the name of the father /

MUSIC : Music is one of my main interest so it could be any kind of music as long as it's not purely commercial. What is attractive in the music is not only the song created, but his social impact. For years, I listened principally old rock and folk. Now it's more brass bands, funk and world music. From Miles Davis to irish punk, throught The Doors or Touareg songs, I'll be glad to listen at classics or new discoveries.

BOOKS : I don't read so much books, except books which have a link with my studies or those written by the beatnik generation ( Kerouac, London ). I'm more interested by the international press or by essays dealing with modern questions.
