**Away frequently through this fall for work/travel and unable to host!** CURRENT MISSION To visit every continent ABOUT ME How can I describe myself? Quiet, yet talkative. Reserved, but outgoing. Curious, respectful.. polite. I studied meteorology at university in Toronto, I am now working as a meteorologist in St. John's. I'm not really much of a bar/club person but I would really enjoy a visit to a cafe or something similar for tea/coffee. My heritage is very important to me - both sides of my family originate from the same small fishing village of 120 people on the south coast of Newfoundland, Canada. There are no cars and it's not even possible to drive there, accessible only by ferry. I come from a military family - I've lived in Alberta, Netherlands, Ontario and now living in Newfoundland.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING After surfing for a few years, I moved to a new city and got my own place. I started hosting CSers to give back and also to show this great city, which is also somewhat new to myself! Moved to the suburbs a few years ago and haven't had many requests since as people prefer to be closer to downtown. Also, my current job requires me to be away for long periods of time. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I couchsurfed all over Europe in 2012 and Asia in 2013. I started hosting when I got my own place in 2014. It's been quite a few years since I've hosted but hoping to start again once my home renovations are complete.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Travelled all the way to Huntington, Oregon to take in an eclipse with my partner, after hiking up a huge hill to be alone for an awesome spectacle!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you key words and phrases in Newfoundland English. I'm also quite knowledgeable in meteorology and sciences and have a knack for foreign languages.
My Interests
Travelling, of course. I like to spend a few days in the city and majority of my time in the countryside. Very much interested in anything outdoors, especially hiking, hoping to start kayaking soon and have always wanted to scuba! I enjoy road trips, especially in the US. I also drove to Newfoundland every year to visit my relatives for 3 weeks. I really enjoy anything weather related, naturally, as I am studying it. I've always been fascinated by thunderstorms, blizzards etc.. one day I hope to go storm chasing in the Plains and finally see a tornado. I'm also interested in learning about culture, I guess that goes hand-in-hand with travelling!
