About Me

Hi!

I'm Bethany and I'm from Granger, Indiana. I was born in China but adopted when I was little and raised in a small town in the US.

I'm a huge animal lover. My family has had dogs, cats, bunnies, ferrets, and even a horse!

Right now I'm in London studying at King's College with a study abroad program until June. I love traveling and am eager to meet new people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really want to get to know new cultures by staying with locals and learning about life in other countries. To me, one of the biggest aspects of traveling is immersing myself in a different environment and the best way to do that is to talk to someone who knows the city! There's nothing like seeing a city through a local's eyes.

Interests

I love traveling, volunteering, exploring new cultures, and cooking (although I'm not the best at it). I also love to dance!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all music except country. I'm a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac and Florence + The Machine but my music taste fluctuates every day from The Beatles to Hoodie Allen.

I like horror movies a lot, but my favorite movies are Inception and Freedom Writers.

The best book I've ever read has been In the Time of the Butterflies. It's about the Mirabal sisters in the Dominican Republic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know if this is amazing, but it was certainly a wonderful experience.

When I was 17, I spent 7 weeks in Valencia, Spain living with a host family and attempting to learn the language. I ate paella, took siestas, spent a lot of time on the beach, and went to faellas with my family. It was one of the best experiences of my life and cemented my love for traveling.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would be happy to share pieces of culture about the US or London, as that's where I currently live. I would also love to share travel experiences or maybe cook a nice meal for my host!

Countries I’ve Visited
