About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Contract welder/craftsperson for the Toronto film and television industry. Full-time singer-songwriter, currently planning a quick Canadian tour.

ABOUT ME

I am friendly and easy to get along with. I like to laugh, talk about culture, environment, farming and politics. Also crafts, arts. I love to talk to smart people about anything. Even math, which is not one of my strengths.
I'm cynical in a jolly sort of way.
I am a singer/songwriter and I always have my little guitar with me.
I like to cook vegetarian food and I'm pretty good at it. I can cook for my hosts.

PHILOSOPHY

Live. Try really hard not to harm the earth. Eat local. Grow food. Show your heart. Have fun. Don't take life too seriously. Really listen and try to understand others. Put genuine love before ego.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a very challenging schedule, but I am happy to host when I can. I love to travel and used Couchsurfing.org to see a lot of Europe. Now I am looking for a few hosts along my tour route in Canada.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far it has been really cool. The people who have hosted me have been very kind and generous.

Interests

Songwriting, playing music.
Studied blacksmithing for two years and hope to get back into it soon.
Food sustainability. Simple, off-grid living. Politics and environmentalism.
Arts and crafts.
Exploring. Seeing natural landscapes and ancient architecture.
Walking/hiking/biking.
Friends. Hearing people's stories and ideas.

Music, Movies, and Books

A book I love: Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver

Music I love: Gillian Welch, Kathleen Edwards, Steve Brockely... so much more. All kinds. Music is necessary to survival. (Actually, I don't particularity like gangsa rap.)

I like lots of movies. Especially hilarious ones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have toured throughout Canada, my home country, with my music. Played some awesome festivals and interesting gigs, meeting many fantastic people along the way.
Lived in a tiny cabin in BC for a few years, with no power or running water, homesteading.
Couchsurfed around Europe, solo for 11 weeks last year. Have also visited Cuba.
Unexpectedly began working as a welder this year - all position stick at heights, in mud and at interesting angles. Most challenging job I've ever had. I kinda feel like I can do anything now.

Teach, Learn, Share

Sure. Let's share hikes and walks and bike rides and conversations. We can sing together? I can teach a little guitar, show you some pics of the funny little off-grid cabin I've been living in, and tell you how bronze casting is done. :)
