About Me

I am a retired US Public Health Service officer that moved from Florida back to my hometown New Orleans in 2019. I try to live a full but healthy life which includes having a your recommended daily requirement for fun! During that year, I met a lot of great (and a few truly stellar) couchsurfers through the local Couchsurfers group, and even hosted a few. I love the camaraderie and the opportunity to show visitors my town.

The past couple of years I've been traveling the country in my camper and enjoying meeting new people. I have loved camping and being on the road. I love exploring new places. In 2021 I logged over 17,000 miles in my truck, and most of that was pulling my 21 foot camper.

I have never had the chance to appreciate how beautiful the United States is until recently. Sure flying around the country is fun, but you really don't get a feel for how spectacular it is unless you drive it one mile at a time.

I'm planning on More travel in 2022! If you'd like to travel with me that would be a blast for I usually travel on my own.

I love meeting new people especially those new to New Orleans. People from New Orleans are very friendly and outgoing I think because it is such a unique place to visit. This city is the only European style city in the United States and it's heritage is apparent in the layout of the city and it's beautiful architecture. I really love sightseeing in New Orleans with visitors and locals alike. There is always something fun to do in New Orleans and most likely it's free. Hop on a streetcar and take in the beauty of St Charles Avenue.

2022 is looking like another active road trip year for me, but this time I hope to find and meet more friends to travel with along the way. If you're interested, drop me a line!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet interesting travelers and get out there and explore this earth while I can.

Interests

These days, I live in a suburb of Houston Texas awaiting the great thaw to hit the road again. I love to cook and especially grill out.

Road trips to explore nearby cities and places for a day or two are very entertaining for me. I continue to enjoy camping and the outdoors (experienced New England, the Great Lakes and Montana last year): WOW! Oh especially enjoy going to local festivals and hanging out with family and friends. I also enjoy nature and love gardening.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love classic science fiction. Movies by Ridley Scott are some of my favorites. I really enjoyed Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime and the Handmaid's Tale on Hulu. I'm watching Raised by Wolves right now on HBOmax. I also really enjoy deep movies that make you think; The Fountain and Interstellar are examples. I also love socially aware television programs like Euphoria and Genera+ion.

One of my favorite things to do is cook a nice meal and then just chill and watch a good movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Meet Angelina Jolie. See George Ezra in a small venue theatre.

Teach, Learn, Share

Your character is what is important to me. Let's just be ourselves. Things don't impress me people do.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy cooking and handiwork; I’ve renovated old houses and have taught myself many skills like carpentry and plumbing. I enjoy fixing things so much that when I was a kid my parents used to give me broken clocks and appliances for birthday presents.
