About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To gather good stories, and make good friends
ABOUT ME
First and foremost I would describe myself as interesting and interested. I believe that there's a story behind every face and my goal in all my interactions is to hear that story so that I can connect in a meaningful way. I also know every person that I meet is a teacher in some way, so I make an effort to see what new things I can learn from the people and environment that surround me. People often are astounded by how happy I am on a constant basis. I'm committed to gaining new experiences, friends, and stories. I have worked as a group leader for wilderness trips the past few years, and so one of my talents is turning a group of strangers into a group of friends. Similarly, I seem to be able to make friends with almost anybody and my go-with-the-flow attitude allows me to feel comfortable in almost all situations.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I stayed with one couchsurfer in Japan, and had a great experience.
Most of my couchsurfing experience is in hosting. My housemate Lionel and I opened our home to couchsurfers while we were living in Santa Cruz, and we hosted many wonderful people from around the world.
Interests
In almost every interaction that we have with others, we find ourselves telling stories. These stories show others the kind of person that we are, as well as allowing those listening to connect to us and each other in such a way that facilitates bringing everyone together. I am interested in having experiences that make good stories to tell, and sharing those experiences with my friends. This desire to have good stories compels me to go out into the world with an attitude of openness. I am always willing to try new things, a trait that has lead to my eclectic interest set. I recently have been involved in the outdoor recreation field, so I am an experienced outdoorsman (backpacking, rock climbing, river rafting, kayaking, fishing, survival skills), however I always enjoy the comforts of civilization (a good movie/TV show, a comfortable bed, internet etc...). I love music and pretty much always have it playing; few things make me happier than sharing music with others. I also am into traditional chinese tea - specifically Gung Fu style and Puerh tea. I love doing anything active.
I've also been spending a lot of time writing. I have already written one book (still in the editing process) and am working on a collection of short stories.
