About Me

Hello everyone stopping by my page. 🙋🏻‍♂️
My name is Burak.🦄 I currently live in Kahramanmaraş 🏘, a small but beautiful city of Turkey 🇹🇷 I moved to the city a few months ago 📦 🧳 and loved its nature for sure. It doesn’t have a lot of popular tourist attractions but if you are into nature like me, maybe we can go trekking on the beautiful mountains of Kahramanmaraş.🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️By the way, I work for a bank. 👨🏻‍💻 So I might be rather busy on week days. If you choose weekends to stay at my place, I can arrange something for you. 📅 I have a motorcycle. 🏍 He has even a name, Pinto. Anyway, a long story :) I can tell the story if we one day meet. So people with motorcycle and Spanish speaking people are more than welcome. I feel like I need to practice the language urgently.
But don't worry :))
You will be all welcome and we will get along well unless you are racist👨🏻‍🦲👨🏼‍🦲👨🏽‍🦲👨🏾‍🦲👨🏿‍🦲, sexist 🚹⁉️🚺, arrogant😒, irreverent, religious discriminatory ⚛️✝️☪️✡️, political hater 🤬 , etc. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Since we agreed 🤝, then I'm looking forward to hearing from you. 🤗

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why not :))) Ok guys, I don't look for a free place to stay or some free food on CS. 💸 I only want to meet people with whom we can share our knowledge and experience. 🔄 I have a lot to learn and to teach, to listen to and to tell. 🧐
I am very intrigued in languages and cultures. I might give you a headache 🤯 asking too many questions about your language and country :)) Sorry in advance 🤷🏻‍♂️:)

Interests

✈️🗺🏍Well, my friends say I carry my house on my back like a turtle. Everywhere my feet step is my home I can say. So it is not a surprise that my biggest passion is traveling. Once we get rid of this damn pandemic🦠💉, I will start to plan my next trip somewhere in the world. Who knows maybe we meet while watching the Northern Lights or we look for a Mongolian Yurt 🛖 in endless deserts 🏜 together :))
♚ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ I was taught chess by my aunts when I was just four. When I was asked how a horse moved, I remember I took the chessman in my hand and shouted 'neeeeiiiiigh'. 🐴 I guess I've made a lot of progress since then :)) I still love playing chess and trying to solve chess problems.
🎼🎺 I have recently been interested in music. I learn to play some wind instruments as you can already see in my photos. My favorite one is clarinet somehow. I love its sound.
🎥📸And photography, of course. I have a professional camera. I take photos of nature whenever possible and edit them in lightroom according to my taste. Also I record videos while traveling. Usually with a drone. I put some of my photos and footages on my instagram page. https://www.instagram.com/burak_krkt/?hl=tr Feel free to add me as a friend if you wish to take a glance at my works and tell me you are coming from CS so that I can follow you back.
💻I program microprocessors. When I need an electronic device (especially camera control equipment), my motto is 'Don't buy it, just make it' :)) If people knew what they could create with a $ 10 budget, they would learn coding right away. It's true that sometimes I make remarkable amount of money out of my little hobby. Don't tell that to my bank :))
I have many many more hobbies actually. It doesn't seem possible to list them all here. I wrote some of them somewhere below :))

  • photography
  • motorcycles
  • drones

Music, Movies, and Books

I can't say that I have a specific genre in this regard. Usually, my mood is being determining on what to listen to, what to watch, what to read. If I have to give you guys certain examples,
My favorite writers: 📚📖🖋
Fyodor Dostoevsky, Ivan Turgenyev, Lev Tolstoy, Aleksandr Pushkin, Ernest Hemingway, Stefan Zweig, John Steinbeck, Jack London, Gabriel García Márquez, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, Sabahattin Ali, Yaşar Kemal, Nazım Hikmet and actually many many more...

I want to share some movies that deeply influenced me with you.🎬📽
The Shawshank Redemption, Schindler's List, La Vita è Bella, Sátántangó, Eşkiya, Yol, The Grapes of Wrath, The Battle of Algiers, A Hero, A Separation, Salesman, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, Winter Sleep, Million Dollar Baby, Interstellar, Amores Perros, Léon: The Professional, The silence of the Lambs...

🎹🎼🎤🎷🎸Sorry; but I will use this cliche: I listen to everything that sounds good. I have a very wide-ranging music taste from Turkish folk music to classical music, from blues (well, sometimes I feel blue) to metal & rock, from ethnic music to jazz... Did I miss any? :)
Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Antonio Vivaldi, Louis Armstrong, Chet Baker, John Lee Hooker, Zeki Müren, Erdal Erzincan, Kardeş Türküler.. Those came to my mind for now. I can add more later 📝 :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, the city I currently live in is the one of firsts I think. I met someone who is an instructor of paragliding. It was not too hard for him to convince me that it is a lot safer than I can imagine. I took the basic course. Soooo I am ready to fly on my ooooown :)) 🪂
I went to Crimea through the Caucasian mountains with my motorcycle. 🏍🏕 I run out of gas in the middle of nowhere.⛽️ The chain of my bike was broken. ⛓ I had a flat tire. 🔧🪛 I've been lost over and over again. Each time I met people running around to help me solve the problems. When I reached my target, while watching beautiful sunset of the Black Sea from the summit of the Mount Ai-Petri, 🌅 I said Wow! I did it 😎 and it was one of the amazing things I have ever done. When I got home safe and sound the odometer of my motorcycle was showing 8️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ kms :))
Oh by the way I am a survivor of an earthquake which killed at least 50.000 people. Surely what I saw left unforgettable marks on me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Actually If I am on my mood, I can cook very well 👨‍🍳. I know a lot of meat meal recipes. Yeap, why not. I can cook some delicious Turkish meal for you🥘🥗🍲. Besides, a clean bed 🛏 and a separate room :)) Ask me if you need more. I can think about it 🤔 :))
