About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet some folks in Japan as I travel and live here (and welcome others to travel and visit me!)

ABOUT ME

Currently teaching for AEON Amity (teaching Japanese children to speak English). The town I live in is quite small and I speak next to no Japanese, so lately I have been building my literature knowledge (mostly in fantasy literature though...). I also take a lot of weekend trips to other parts of Japan to visit friends or just do some local sight seeing while I can.

PHILOSOPHY

Life should be enjoyable, so just respect each other, love with all you've got, and be easy (my way of saying relax and chill out).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Anyone can crash at my small apartment (no couch, but I have extra futon mats with floor space, since that is how I sleep here too). I also can't wait to visit another couchsurfer for the first time!

Interests

-Round 1 (a glorious arcade chain in Japan, much better than anything we have in the states)
-Reading (I LOVE literature and reading takes up a lot of my time)
-My Gundam collection (I will admit that I am a huge nerd, so yes, I make Gundam figures)
-Peanut Butter and Jelly (I miss it dearly, and eat it whenever I can)
-Exploring the world one continent at a time (Life-long goal is to walk on all seven continents. Three down, four to go!)
-Mountain Dew & Red Bull (two drinks that are very hard to come by in Japan, so of course I am craving them...)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
- Lord of the Rings (You shall not pass)
- Adaptation (You are what you love, not what loves you)
- Good Will Hunting (My boy is wicked smart)
- Pan's Labyrinth (Hello. I am Princess Moanna, and I am not afraid of you)

Music:
- Incubus (Will I make it back to shore or drift into the unknown)
- Dream Theater (I may never prove what I know to be true but I know that I still have to try)
- Five Iron Frenzy (Awesome? I am the awesomest)
- The Deftones (Roll the windows down, this cool night air is curious)

Books:
Wizard's First Rule (People are stupid)
Tuesdays with Morrie (You have to be strong enough to say that if culture doesn't work, don't buy into it)
Lullaby (The trick to forgetting the big picture is to look at everything close-up)
Ender's Game (The enemy's gate is down)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing Mount Fuji. Myself and a few friends started the climb at 10pm and reached the summit around 4am, then saw the sunrise...one of the most glorious moments of my life (that is where my profile picture is from).

Teach, Learn, Share

Do not fear your mistakes. You'll learn from them and become more from them.

Never be comfortable for an extended period of time. You're life will become stagnant if you no longer grow.

Do not be afraid to have your feelings destroyed by others. Without knowing true sadness and despair you cannot understand or conceive complete happiness and you will never know how glorious true friends really are.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Japan, United States
