ABOUT ME

I'm an open minded guy that will give most things a try. I'm an avid sports (watching) lover.
I'm never happier than when traveling and meeting new people - been a back-packer ever since my first travels as an adult and until now always opted for hostels.

PHILOSOPHY

To not be down and make the best of what you have - treat others as you wish to be treated. Try to find the best out of each situation even when it's tough.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Check the site every so often - plan to meet up with tourists when I can while at home and look for hosts when traveling. Hope someday to have a bigger place so can host to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed with two different hosts on my last American Football tour stateside (2012) plus did offer a fellow traveler met on a flight from Prague my couch for a night a few years back as he had a 16hr layover at London Gatwick before flying back stateside.

In 2018 when I got stood up + left high dry at Schiphol airport by a friend I was meant to be staying with in Amsterdam I visited Arnhem instead and stayed a few nights at a really cool Dutch guys place from CS so I could visit the local Airborne museum (as I'm very interested in Second World War history).

Interests

Strategy War Games both board and on-line - e.g. Axis and Allies, Stratego, Triple A - Big World 1942.

Fantasy sports games.

Watching sports especially American football (NFL), cricket and football (soccer).

Traveling - backpacking seeing new places meeting new people.

World War II history - love watching documentaries and visiting museums on the subject.

Music, Movies, and Books

Last book I read was Paper Lion by George Plimpton (but for my sins I am not a big book reader).

Always been a huge fan of Madonna.
Also like the Rolling Stones, U2, Simple Minds, Dance/Techno music in general.

Am an avid film watcher and used to go to the cinema at least once a week (had an Unlimited card) but now I tend to stream what I want to see film/TV show wise - when not traveling (back at home) naturally. Some of my favourite all time movies are:

Am sure there's loads more but they are the ones that just came to mind I have really liked.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking the rim trails at the Grand Canyon and getting to wear my favourite Detroit Lions players NFL uniform in the home team locker room.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have traveled on a budget and been using hostels for well over a decade in Europe and North America. Been to many NFL stadia all over the US and had fun times in most cities I have set down in, for my sins I love to talk and tell my road trip stories both good and bad. Like hearing others stories to.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Travel experience stories - bad, good and most definitely funny for the listener (but not for me at the time as usually was something bad at my expense).
