About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am working with BayMark Health Services now, for the first time in my life attempting to "grow roots and settle down" in this New England area I now call home. I love what I do, but looking to return to my retreats.
ABOUT ME
Goodness, wacky, love to laugh, love to see new things, love the outdoors and food is awesome-though in moderation its best. (My body proves moderation would serve me better. But, since I love every inch of who I am-bring on the exercise and my next dish!)
PHILOSOPHY
Live life to the fullest, regret nothing. Well, the first is a definite, I am still working on the second.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I share the love of travel and relationship with all who live harmoniously on this earth and everyone I know who travels in it. CS is all about bringing people together, and creating connections; it works and it is a great way to travel and see the world/nation/ and meet people!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I met a guy on a plane. We spent 9 hours talking. When we landed, he took me to my hotel, saw how crappy it was and took me to his parents instead. I stayed in the area for 3 days enjoying their hospitality-they were wonderful! And now, many years later, that guy and I are still in touch, and great friends.
Until today, this was how I was participating, then I saw the new rules on CS saying they had full rights without my permission to use anything in my profile as they saw fit.
Notwithstanding article 5.1 of the CS Terms of Use, I do not, past, present or future, grant CouchSurfing International Inc. a license to use my content under the conditions specified there. Instead, I reserve all rights to pictures uploaded by me. Nor do I endorse any photos used without my consent in any context, writen or otherwise. Unless I was forewarned about the pictures usage and agree with the usage.
Regardless of how Terms or service are changed on September 14, 2012 or anytime in the future, I, D. N. J. S. user blueoceantraveler known as Nic, retain all rights to my photos and they will forever be my property. Furthermore, I claim "grandfather clause" which dictates "a situation in which an old rule continues to apply to some existing situations, while a new rule will apply to all future situations." So since I uploaded under OLD CONDITIONS, they are not bound by future conditions which I could not have possibly known at the time of upload and were not in play at the date of upload.

Music, Movies, and Books
Oh, well, it is much easier to tell you I HATE horror, prefer kids movies. Love sci-fi, political thriller and suspense, fantasy, biographies, science, and books that enlighten me. Currently have over 4000 books in my personal library. And....still need to build bookcases.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The birth of my daughter was the MOST amazing thing I have ever done-that is personal but if you are a parent I am sure you can concur. As for something seen and experienced outside of me, Impact Trainings. Check it out, it will blow your ego-mind out of its world. I have also climbing 6 peaks in the Alps, fallen off one of those peaks and was rescued by our team. (God bless our team!) I have dove multiple locations a found the world, but still new to this hobby. I have gone skydiving a few times, it's never enough. I am learning to fly a plane. Let's see what else. I love nature, like people- prefer nature and animals over people. Other amazing things, I have hugged a lion and a bear, kissed a tiger and washed an elephant. I have been arrested by a foreign law enforcement officer, made friends with his entire office and shared tea and chocolate with them. I was almost kidnapped in India, made friends with a Pakistani activist who saved my life and been to bombed out villages to teach about stress management. I have spoken and danced with Kings and Queens in Africa, gave myself a concussion after giving medicine to a tribal chief in th middle of an African forest many foot miles from medical care... Saved lives with a bag of rice...
As for travel, Iceland is still number 1 after 44 countries and still going. It is like catching God in the act of creation.
Currently, I am working to build a retreat for healing, called The PTSD Retreat. It is a place of relaxation and healing for our nations heroes (Military, firefighters and police force) as well as their families, to come and learn how to cope with the symptoms of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). IT works in conjunction with current programs already successfully providing treatment around the country, but find themselves backed up with too many patients. While this retreat does not provide treatment, it will provide coping skills and tools to assist the individuals fighting it and their families, to be able to survive and be who they are, without the destruction caused by the symptoms of PTSD.

Teach, Learn, Share
Relationship is based on not what you receive but what you can give and share.
Two, the perfect relationship is not built on the best qualities in a person, but weathered by the imperfections that make the relationship unique.
Last and I am adding this 2/26/24: live has nothing to do with what the other person thinks of you. If you truly love someone, whether they are with you or not, like you or not, you care about them. It does not mean you have to be with them. Example: the person is abusive or disrespects your boundaries. You don't need that. You just stay true to your love for them, even if they are out of sight. Out of the area, far from you. Love is seeing the truth of someone and loving them anyway.
What I Can Share with Hosts
The best host was not rich, didn't have everything to offer. The best host has a clean space that was comfortable, quiet and very supportive in the form of caring and friendship offered. I stayed with a single mom and her kids while traveling with my daughter alone as a single mom. She didn't have much, and we still we had a wonderful time talking. It's moments like these that make couch surfing so awesome.
