About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Squeezing as much fun out of life while trying to finish my studies. The two objectives do not get along!

ABOUT ME

I'm 24 years old and I'm currently studying engineering at the University of Stuttgart, but am doing an internship in Liechtenstein at the moment. Originally I'm from a small village in Rhineland-Palatinate, a region famous for it's warm weather, good wine and relaxed and fun people. I don't know if the first two have anything to do with the third one, but one just might think so. So naturally I do like a glas of wine now and then ideally accompanied by a nice pointless but funny conversation about anything. But don't worry, if you don't like wine, there's always beer in the fridge ;-)
I like spending time with a few friends just hanging out as well as going to concerts and partying all night. I'm not too keen on nightclubs and discos, because I have a pretty antique taste in music which isn't satisfied there most of the time ;-). That's why I prefer concerts, you know who's playing and what music they are playing.

PHILOSOPHY

This is the part where I'm supposed to look up a quote by a famous philosopher I supposedly live by to appear all intelligent, isn't it?

Well I don't really have a philosophy. I just try to live my life and have fun as I do it. Obviously I don't always have fun and there are "dark times" but in my heart I'm a postive person and I'm usually quite succesful in finding the positive aspects in every situation.

Maybe the only philosophy I've followed all my life is:

I'd rather lose a friend than bite my tongue in a joke.
That might make me sound like an inconsiderate ass, but I just love a good joke and people who can't take a joke aren't really my friends in the first place. This obviously means that I am capable of laughing about myself as well. I just hate people who take life and themselves too seriously.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a couple of people in my flat in Stuttgart and hope to host a few at my new place in Austria. In the summer I'm going to try and find the time to have a vacation and surf a few couches myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just great! I have hosted completely different people whom I would have never met if it wasn't for CS and all of them have been great and fun to be around and I hope to meet many more people like that.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:

I'm kind of a split personality when it comes to movies. Obviously I like "good" ones. My absolute favorites being Blues Brothers, Black Dynamite and The Godfather. Others I enjoy very much: The Big Lebowski, This is Spinal Tap, Rocky, Ong Bak, In China They Eat Dogs,...
I also enjoy "trash" movies. That's why me and my friends hold a weekly TrashMovieNight. Highlights in this "genre" are: Yor - Hunter from the future, The Room, Space Truckers and pretty much anything from The Asylum.

Music:

As I said earlier my taste in music is pretty antique. Genres would be Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Blues, Rock'n'Roll and Rockabilly. Artist include but are not limited to ;-): AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Airbourne, Johnny Cash, BB King, Motörhead, Elvis, CCR, Boppin B, The Baseballs

Books:

Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy, pretty much everything by Ken Follet, books by german author and comedian Helge Schneider and pretty much everything as long as it's entertaining. I usually read in the evening after a long day of thinking and just want to be entertained, not lectured.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love skiing and three years ago I was able to spend a week in Vail, Colorado. One day I was the first person at a certain slope. It was perfect sunshine, an unbelievable landscape, noone around, not a single sound and about 3 feet of fresh untouched powder. It was great. Whenever I'm sad I think back to that moment and how happy I was back then and the memory has helped me through some really sad moments.

Teach, Learn, Share

Obviously I could try to teach you some german if you're interested in that.
Other than that my place is ideal to learn skiing, get some hikes in or go for a ride on a mountainbike and I could show you around for all those things.
My knowledge of german (and to a lesser extent austrian) beer could save you some pain and money in trying awful ones. And I'm quite good at maths and physics but I'm not quite sure at what point during a visit someone would like to talk about that ;-)

I like learning about other people. Where they live, how they live, what they eat. I like cooking a lot, so if you could teach me a typical meal from your region I'd enjoy that a lot. Obviously I could/would return that favor, if you like.
Languages aren't really my strong suit, but I would like to learn at least a few words ;-)

Other than that it depends on what you have to offer.
