About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel as much as I possibly can in between being a responsible adult.

ABOUT ME

I'm a teacher and an avid traveler. I love being dropped into places where I have an absurdly small grasp of the language, armed only with a map and a list of destinations. Over the years I've found traveling to be infinitely more enjoyable with company, and there's nothing quite so helpful as getting advice from the locals.

Interests

Cooking, baking, farmer's markets, math, knitting, origami, museums, broadway shows, world history, classic literature, theories of education, new experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently Reading: The Dubliners, Three Men in a Boat

Movies: Pride & Prejudice (2005)

Music: Anything acoustic, whatever is on the radio, folk, strings

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've walked around the top of Mount Vesuvius

Teach, Learn, Share

Able to Teach: I have a good handle on cheap vegetarian cooking, origami, math, taking care of cats, and writing resumes & cover letters!

Want to Learn: I love getting advice on what to see and where to go in places from people who have visited or lived there. I'm also interested in hearing about peoples' adventures in homesteading, how to live green in urban settings, and generally any interesting life experiences. It would be awesome to learn how to make pasta from scratch, or keep chickens.

Share: Over the last few years I have developed an excellent grasp of how to see Broadway shows for cheap and navigate NYC. Most shows have ticket policies that allow you to get in for $30-$40 if you know what to do (versus $200-$400). I've also got a good handle on fun NYC events, and neighborhoods to visit.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A meal! Honestly, I'm not sure what else I can offer unless you want someone to discuss books with. I'm also a pretty amazing trip planner, if anyone wants advice on future travels.

Countries I’ve Visited
