About Me

I want to take a second and explain that I respect your rules and boundaries, and I'm grateful if you're offering a couch. Also, I really enjoy company and conversation!!
I'm from California and I grew up playing sports. I slowly began to really enjoy language learning and the process. I enjoy researching things, then deciding to act upon that research or not. The dopamine comes from the anticipation! Sorry for the nerdyness lol. I enjoy talking with people about their interests, because I understand there's a lot to gain from a genuine interest in other people and what they are engaged in. I really enjoy audiobooks. I've read so many self-help audiobooks and I'm just getting started reading/listening to novels that we were forced to learn in school (when it wasn't fun!). Now I'm far more engaged in the overall message and the thoroughness, beauty in the themes and character development. I like travel, and the theory of travel but honestly I've not had much time or resources to do it yet. I really hope I can find some similarities with other people and make some valuable friends throughout this journey. I am married, no kids and we have a dog and 2 cats. I love my family! I believe someday I may become an English teacher, and possibly to encourage people to explore an idea I have called entropy learning.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really want to have a positive experience with people and provide value to other peoples lives. I want to learn about different cultures and explore different regions with other like-minded people. I find it really fascinating to be open-minded when there's so much to learn about this world! Traveling would be much more enjoyable with others.

Music, Movies, and Books

Where to start!? Seriously I don't know where to start I find my mind is incredibly adaptable and inspired by new perspectives. I guess I could start with Tolkein. Blues Traveler. The Things They Carried. Saving Private Ryan. Lyndsay Stirling. 61*. The Sandlot. Hatchet. Don Quixote. The Kybalion. Movies with Danny McBride. The Tempest. Josh Vietti. How to Win Friends and Influence People. The Alchemist. Megamind. Audioslave. Jack Johnson. Santana. Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. Happy Gilmore. The Automatic Millionaire. Screwtape Letters. Bob Marley. The One Thing. Gary Keller. Mark Twain Autobiography. Discipline Equals Freedom. Peak Mind. LOTR. Maroon 5. Animal Farm. The Death of Ivan Ilyich. Gulag Archipelago. Sublime. Man's Search for Meaning. 12 Angry Men. Ikigai. The Art of Communication. Brad Paisley. The Four Agreements. Many documentaries. Walk the Line. Romeo Santos. Inferno (Dan Brown). Stevie Ray Vaughan. Lincoln in the Bardo. The Five People You Meet in Heaven.

I still need/want to read: The Brothers Karamazov. Harry Potter (don't judge, it came out only 20 years ago or so!). Classic literature + many more to come hopefully before our phones and brains are welded* together.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Studied Chinese

Teach, Learn, Share

I really enjoy teaching English as a foreign language, even though it's never been formal. I like teaching random things like what I've learned about neuroscience, psychology, emotion, the prefrontal cortex. There's always the disclaimer that I'm fascinated but not a professional lol

I like to learn about other peoples likes and experiences. Seriously there's such an abundance that I can put here. I like learning languages, cultures, different types of music, and learning entropy which I'm fascinated by!

I'm not really used to expressing these things, I'm used to asking questions and listening actively to the responses. I've found that to be almost a right of passage, stepping into a more mature version of myself by humbling myself to what others enjoy.

Top of mind travel ideas: Tampa, Florida. Mallorca, Spain. Dublin, Ireland. Edinburgh, Scotland. Denver, Colorado. Galapagos, Ecuador. Montanita, Ecuador. Barcelona, Spain. Western Taiwan. Bangkok, Thailand. Athens, Greece. Cancun, Mexico. Belizean beaches appear to be out of this world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can be on schedule if needed. I'm very tidy. I'm respectable and I really enjoy conversation. I can share the knowledge or perspective I've gained and I'm a positive person. I like adding to the good vibes! I keep up my personal hygiene. I'm flexible and adaptable. I'll leave the area I slept in the same or better than I found it.
