About Me

Semi-retired, waiting on my wife to retire so we can travel the world! I am totally inspired by the young people I know and read about (on-line) traveling the world. I have a new-found, faith, belief, optimism... that the world can truly be changed by travel. From the traveling I've done, the people I've met and the people I've read about we are all so very much alike! I would like to share this optimism, philosophy, etc. first hand. I love nature, water, mountains people and new places. I lean toward exotic, but I'm a bit cautious as well. I enjoy the energy, optimism and life when I'm around young people. I grew up in a rural ranching/farming area that has grown into a suburb. I love to hunt, fish, hike, snorkel and explore.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Laid-off is more accurate than semi-retired. My wife and I are probably lower middle class Americans, born and raised in Texas. My wife and I love to travel together. We are a great team, different enough to expand each others scope and close enough to weather tough situations. We plan to rent our house to pay for some of our travels. We have spent previous vacations (always good, mostly with our kids) in tents, campers, RVs and resorts. We are ready to experience people in a more thorough and engaging way. I want to know where the locals go when the cruise ship leaves!
