About Me

"I would rather die with memories than dreams." - one of my favorite quotes, which was written on the wall in the home of my Couchsurfing host in Cusco, Peru.

After four years of travel I guess I've "settled down"...for now 😆
Please do hit me up if you come through State College, PA! I may or may not be able to host but I can probably hang out, my work schedule is flexible. Let's tailgate!

As I've been traveling, the best memories are all centered around the people involved in them, so I try to make meaningful connections all along the way. The person you have by your side during an experience can make all the difference. So let's meet up and change each other's experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To explore the world, and share my little corner of it with others (when I am in a stationary location).

Interests

I love exploring the outdoors- especially backpacking, climbing, and watersports like wakeboarding and kitesurfing. I also enjoy reading fiction and fantasy novels, playing board games, and trying new beers. And since doing my first 10-day Vipassana retreat in July '22 I have been meditating daily and trying to learn as much as I can to develop my mind.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read, but wouldn't know where to start listing my favorite books. I read everything from fantasy and sci-fi to romance and historical fiction to books about Buddhism and creative nonfiction. My Kindle/e-reader is one of the most essential items on any packing list of mine!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in the Galápagos islands for 3 months while teaching English
Wrote *almost* a whole book :)

Teach, Learn, Share

After four years in South America I'm fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, so I can teach you some fun phrases in those languages, or practice and improve with any other speakers. And of course we can practice English ;) I have worked as an English teacher for both children and adults, so if you are a person who likes hosting foreigners as a means to improve your English, I'm your surfer!

I have also done quite a bit of backpacking in national parks around the US so I can share stories and tips on any that you may be thinking of visiting my homecountry.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Not gonna lie, I am not the greatest cook in the world 😆 but I have a ton of stories to share and love trying new things. Sometimes when I've surfed I've gotten ideas to do things that turned out to be first-time experiences for my hosts in their own cities, which was always fun. For example, going for a midnight swim in the river that runs through Prague. Or climbing over a wall to start hiking early and be the first ones up to the Christ Statue in Rio de Janeiro. So if you host me and are up for anything, I guarantee we will have some adventures!
