About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become a massage therapist and then see every single country in the world and meet some great people while I'm at it.

ABOUT ME

I am a small town gal who can't live without animals (I currently have one horse, down from 6) but absolutely enjoys meeting people from all over the world. My lifetime goal is to see every country in the world...it will take some time, but I am pretty determined.
I am becoming a Registered Massage Therapist and hope to combine that education with my certification as an Equine Sport Therapist in order to help people in general, as well as horse and rider, in a way that is gentle on the earth and will make a difference in the lives of individuals. My retirement plan is to have a retreat where people and their animals can go to regain balance and relax together.
I am an education gatherer...I love going to school and can't seem to stop. I would love to get my Masters in History, but that will have to wait until I can start making enough money to pay down my student loans and travel debts!
I recently returned from a 9 month journey to the South Pacific. I stopped in the Cook Islands on the way (gorgeous), then spent 8.5 months travelling and working around all of Australia which was awesome and an experience I will never forget. I made some amazing friends and memories that will stay with me forever. On the way home I stopped in New Zealand and did a roadtrip from Christchurch to Auckland, stopping at some of the awe-inspiring sights along the way. Finally I made my way home, in December, to freezing cold BC. I missed my home country! However, I cannot wait to get back to travelling, so hopefully my next bit of schooling goes by quickly!
I am currently working as a Level 3 First Aid Attendant at an underground mine. It's either really boring or fairly stressful, but it does the trick for now and working in the forestry and mining industries has been quite interesting.

PHILOSOPHY

Live Love Laugh Learn and Never live with Regret.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am just starting out, but I would love to be part of this community by both hosting others (atleast if I have travellers stay with me it will fulfill some of my need to be all over the place meeting people until I can travel again), and by staying on some couches as I make my way around my own country and the world.

Interests

Animals, Complementary/Natural Therapies, Travel (obviously), lots of outdoor activities (hiking, wakeboarding, snowboarding, horseback riding, etc), and some indoor activities (climbing at the gym, netball)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am going to say that my whole 9 month trip was one of the more amazing things I have seen and done in my lifetime. The experience as a whole was awesome and the things I saw were definitely amazing, if only because they were so starkly different from home.

Teach, Learn, Share

A few things I learned in Australia:
- never travel with white clothes
- you get what you pay for
- sunblock is your friend, but even 60 SPF won't stop you from getting burned if you don't reapply
- the best conversations come from the most unlikely sources
- when things are meant to work, they just work
- trains are a fun way of getting around
- the dangerous critters in oz are few and far between
- always stay in hostels that provide linens for free

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Cook Islands, Mexico, New Zealand
