Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
make my community the kind of place i want to live
ABOUT ME
I'm usually a science teacher, sometimes a performance poet, and often an organizer of humans.
I LOVE VEGETABLES.
I like traveling because it brings me in contact with people and experiences I wouldn't find otherwise.
PHILOSOPHY
I'd rather spend my money on experiences than on accumulating stuff.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am looking for places to crash in interesting locales and, on the off chance that someone wants to stay in middle-of-nowhere-land, New York, I have some space available. Plus, I know where the cool stuff is.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've CouchSurfed in different parts of North America and have met up with folk from CS in Europe and NA.
Interests
I like learning (about anything), poetry (reading+writing), farming, books, science museums, art museums, tea, hiking, rock climbing, guitar, ultimate frisbee, card games, and board games. I'm also generally up for trying new things.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a fan of Tim Burton's earlier films, a lot of Miyazaki, and the Coen brothers. And other stuff.
As far as music: First Aid Kit, They Might Be Giants, Regina Spektor, Joanna Newsom, Bon Iver, Ingrid Michaelson, Crystal Castles, Freezepop, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Queen, Counting Crows, MGMT, Sufjan Stevens, The Decemberists, Modest Mouse, Harry and the Potters, Simon and Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Coldplay, Les Horribles Cernettes, Gogol Bordello, The Spring Standards, and Kompressor. etc.
My absolute favorite book is The Little Prince. I try to reread it every year or two because it helps keep things in perspective. I'm also a fan of Jorge Luis Borges, Kurt Vonnegut, Edgar Allen Poe, Neal Stephenson, Neil Gaiman, William Gibson, Milan Kundera, and Haruki Murakami.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once, driving to Montreal, I pulled over in the middle of nowhere and saw the most brilliant earthgrazing meteor streak across the sky.
The rain forests on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State are unworldly.
