Overview
About Me
Glad you found me! I’m Brooke. I just graduated from
University studying linguistics and speech pathology.
Like many of you on CS, I’m very adventurous and active. I love dancing, rock climbing, yoga, hiking, camping, gardening, foraging, and Ju Jitsu.
3 of my dreams in life is to be completely self sustainable, plant a forest, and own a tea set (this is my one material dream).
UPDATE 14/10/24: I BOUGHT MYSELF A TEA SET! 🍵
This October, just returned back home from a wonderful 6-month solo backpacking trip in Asia. My experience backpacking was so memorable largely because of the selflessness and hospitality of my CS hosts, and I’m excited to pay forward all the kindness this community has showed me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started CS in the spring of 2023 after I lived on a ship for 5 months and backpacked across central/west Europe. The summer I couchsurfed was my favorite summer ever!! I seek connection and find that so easily with the CS community. You guys on CS teach me about life.
I never like to be comfortable for too long and am always seeking new experiences or something to learn. That’s what I find so fulfilling about traveling! No better way to travel & learn about a place than with a local ;)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Whatever I can boogie to. I really love Afrobeats, Latin music, Alternative/Indie, and Rock.
Some of my favorite artists/bands are The Strokes, Rema, Bad Bunny, Radiohead, Romeo Santos, Led Zeppelin.
Movies: don’t watch them really
Books: my favorite authors are Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Haruki Murakami. I just finished reading Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, & now I’m reading Le Petit Prince (trying to improve my French haha)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 17, I assisted in the delivery of a woman’s child when she went into labor.
I am proud to say I earned a Fulbright scholarship for 2025 to do my own ecolinguistic research on Mapuzungun, an indigenous language spoken mostly in Chile.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I have a wealth of knowledge about linguistics and lots of different languages and their features and structure that I can teach you about! If that’s not your thing, I make delicious teas and coffees with spices. And i can show you a some dance moves 🕺
Learn: I love to listen to you talk about what you’re passionate about. But, I have a special interest in learning about traditional herbal medicine, the plants, animals, and nature of your country, and your language.
Share: aside from sharing a dance, a meal, memories, and a cup of coffee, we can share our perceptions on the countries and places we’ve been to, and the stories we’ve gathered from there. If you know about plants, yoga, or other cultures, we can geek out for a while talking about that too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Share my experience, tasty meals, hanging out, drawing you fun pictures and teaching you a few words in other languages! I’m also happy to help around the house.
I’m a clean and organized person, very okay with giving the host space if they prefer or hanging out too. I’m flexible and respectful.
