We are Brooke and Jeremy. Brooke is an editor with Fairfax Media, currently on maternity leave. Jeremy is a data analyst/programmer (IT). Together, we live with our young son Jack and a sometimes unruly but very friendly 4-year-old Boxer dog called Eddie, in a southern suburb of Adelaide called Christie Downs.
We love live music, the beach, drinking great wine (living right next door to the McLaren Vale wine region makes this very easy), family, fun and friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We were living and travelling in the UK and Europe between mid 2009 and 2012 and enjoyed using Couchsurfing to meet and stay with local people and get the true flavour of the place we were visiting. We met some really great people and now feel like we are in a position to pay it forward in the Couchsurfing community.

Interests

Good food, drinks and company; barbecues and big chats; seeing live music & playing music as well - I (Brooke) love playing the guitar and singing, and welcome a jam anytime! This sounds quite stereotypically Australian but Jeremy is really into beer - he brews his own beer from scratch ("all grain beers") - it's quite an obsession of his - and he loves trying different types of beer - Belgian beers and American pale ale styles are apparently the favourites at the moment. He also likes sport - running particularly. We both love travel; we love our families and our little nephews Aled, Bryn and Louis, and nieces Tara and Ebony, we love animals; reading; cooking; attempting to learn new languages; photography.

Music, Movies, and Books

Brooke: films - Labyrinth with David Bowie is an old fave, Dirty Dancing, Wayne's World; Jeremy - Guy Ritchie films particularly Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrells. Books: (Brooke, favourite authors) Lee Child, Stephen King, Isabelle Allende, Paullina Simons, Tim Winton. Music: (Jeremy) 70s/80s hair metal, Arctic Monkeys, bit of country, bit of rap, bit of Jack Johnson-esque surfy music; (Brooke) anything from Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Laura Marling, Ben Folds and Paul Kelly, music that you can dance to or with a story.

Teach, Learn, Share

As he's in IT, Jeremy is obviously good with computers, and can help with things like spreadsheets and troubleshooting generally. He's also great at maths, is very handy in terms of doing jobs around the house - fixing things etc, and cooks an excellent chicken curry. I am good with words and happy to help with English homework! Can also teach basic guitar & singing. Can give good travel advice as the list of places is quite long and varied these days.
