About Me

I live on a 124 acre personal workout resort. Let me explain. I bought 124 acres in Gold Run that was multiple hydraulic mining claims in the 1860s. The gold was taken from a 100 million old riverbed that existed before the Sierras were uplifted 75 million years ago. Petrified wood is scattered across the property from the tropical forest that existed 200 million years ago. When hydraulic mining was banned in 1884, the property was pretty much abandoned with a 100' high bluff. The land has partially recovered and I am working to restore more. The 10 acre lake has been cleared of dead trees and a trail built around it. Wide mouth bass, blue gill and catfish are in the lake with geese, ducks, osprey over the water. Pasture area is in progress. A 3/4 mile long canal is started.

Trails, explore sluice tunnels, the lakes, majestic big trees, canyons, . . .

I work four days a week in Redwood City on a sewage conveyance tunnel as project manager. My three kids and grand daughter are fun to visit. I invest in stock options with a focus right now on Intel and write articles for Seeking Alpha. I also have a project property in Costa Rica on the beach.

I don't smoke or drink alcohol. I pretty much enjoy life and love to experience people and places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy sharing my property with others and look forward to not just staying someplace but helping others when I stay somewhere. When I stay on the couch at my daughter's we work in the yard, repair things, develop plans for an addition.

Interests

Outdoors, projects, snowboarding, hiking, 4 wheeling, mountain peaking (like a mountain in the Austrian Alps, latest was a 15 mile hike 4,000 feet up a canyon with many waterfalls near Bozeman Montana to a wonderful peak view)

Music, Movies, and Books

Rock from the 60s, 70s, 80s. and anything else that has a good feel. Action, romantic comedy and drama movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Turned a run down abandoned 124 acres into a budding personal workout resort.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach about moving projects forward.

Learn about people/projects in other parts of the world - historical and present day.

Share my personal workout resort.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Excitement regarding moving projects forward. My three kids all saw how much I enjoyed getting projects done to make the world a better place, that they went on to be civil engineers and transportation planners.

Share ideas or leg work on getting a project started, keeping it moving or wrapping it up . . . especially if the project makes the world a better place in some way . . . large or small.
