About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I sought a quote on sharing by a great philosopher...and arrived at advice from my dear mother ' share and share alike' - my mission is to encourage people to embrace others and to try to avoid negative judgements. Apparently De Foe beat my mum to it!

ABOUT ME

I've wandered all over the world...and plan to do some more when the opportunities arise. Will be in my Glasgow flat for a few more months and will happily host during this time.
My main passion is storytelling and have a year ahead of hard work during which I will complete a few pieces which I am very keen to share and hear audiences reactions to. I do prefer to consider myself a 'creative' as I also have a talent for visual arts and music.
I'm part Irish/part Scottish and feel a warmth for people from around the world and what we can learn from each other/enjoy together :)

PHILOSOPHY
We can't help making judgements...we make many everyday...some keep us safe, some are ridiculous, but be a storyteller AND a listener, and gather good and full information on someone's character and don't make your judgements on ethnicity, gender or sexuality, age or physical or mental ability.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Done while touring the world in 2001 and only had good experiences.
Woke up in Perth WA to hear the news of the Twin Towers attack, having been there...at the foot of the towers ( we didn't pay to go up ) exactly a month to the day of the attack.
Thanks to some 'radical fairies' Markie and Elliot in Vancouver for their space when there...

Interests

Cinema, reading, people watching, charitable programmes eg. refuges for runaway children and other throwaway groups...the dispossesed.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Man Who Fell in Love with the Moon - Tom Spanbaeur
The Life and Times of Harvey Milk - Randy Shilts

12 Angry Men
The Machinist
The Wind that Shakes the Barley
Amelie
THe Long Day Closes

Soul and Motown...Stevie Wonder...ALL the greats!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Set up a refuge for runaway children - the first in Scotland...a decade after writing a play which told of their plight...yes...sadly it took this length of time for Scottish legislation to permit bodies to provide such support without parental approval/permission.
The play 'SPROGS' went around the country for 2 years and was performed at the National Theatre with a cast of young people to a mixed audience and was celebrated by actors and directors I have huge respect for including Sir Iain McKellen, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Dame Judy Dench...all who said wonderfully supporting comments about the play and the young cast.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help if your here to trace your scottish and irish roots...and other uk roots too.
Local knowledge to direct you to best places in most efficient way hopefully! And some popular places.
Could use a good guitar/uke teacher!
Speak reasonably good French and enjoy learning from other french speakers.
