About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Do small things with great love!

ABOUT ME

My interests change with the day. I'm a born midwesterner and grew up in Minnesota, transplanted myself in California, and found myself back at my home-base a mere three years later.
Of course, I could only expect to be hit with the desire to leave again, but rather than reaching for a destination, an adventure suits me better.
I have a heart for learning about people's stories, the experiences they've had and the wisdom they've gained. So here I am, planning a cross-country road trip to write a book, in short, about the magical places I see and the blessed people I meet.

PHILOSOPHY

There's always someone new worth meeting around every corner. We have so many opportunities we run from and I want to learn as much as possible from every person I'm graced by.
As much as this is a true belief and passion of mine, I tend to be a little shy, in an extroverted manner, so it doesn't come as naturally as I hoped it might.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Last summer I took a road trip to Newport, Rhode Island for the Newport Folk Festival (which I highly recommend). On the way, I met a great many of hosts, which created such a pleasant experience!!
Well, my tiny apartment doesn't comfortably host anyone at all, but I'm always willing to meet with people who are visiting the area, if I happen to be around at that time, as well. And, my tiny apartment could probably suit someone that doesn't have the pickiest of sleeping needs.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've spent lots of nights on friend's couches and because people have been so gracious to open their doors to me, I want to pay it forward :)

As I said, I traveled to Newport Rhode Island for the Newport Folk Festival this previous summer. My friend and I were lucky enough to stay with a variety of people along the way and it made the entire experience. I have yet to host someone in my own apartment, but am always willing if our timelines seem to match.

Interests

I try my hardest to do different things every day, keeping life interesting and new. I work with kids at a pediatric therapy clinic most days, but in my free time I like to:
-Drink coffee and read
-Meet new people and write
-Listen to music and play
-Travel to shows
-Visit new restaurants and cook
-But mostly, learn new things

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to list and I'm very forgetful.
I love a lot of music, but especially folk music; John Prine, The Tallest Man on Earth, The Avett Brothers, Langhorne Slim, Bob Dylan, The Head and the Heart, Dawes, Deer Tick, etc etc etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

/ I traveled to Ecuador in the summer of 2010 and helped establish a school readiness program for children with Down's Syndrome. I met the most passionate and loving people and felt inspired by their dedication.

/ There's nothing more freeing than taking a bike ride into the cloud forest and climbing to the top of a waterfall!

/ One time, I was at a restaurant and after they took our order the waiter left us with a question saying, "How do you serve others?" I think that's a good question to ask ourselves on a daily basis.

/ Learning to selflessly love people with courage. It's always ongoing and transforming.

Teach, Learn, Share

I work with children that have sensory processing disorders, among various other developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities, So I could teach you about therapy techniques :).
But what I'd most prefer to talk with you about is how children play; their wonder and excitement for exploration and the novel is contagious.

I want you to teach me about the things you've seen, the adventures you've had, the way you run your daily happenings, and what/who you love.
