About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To have new experiences. To explore and experience new things, to meet new people and make new friends. Adventure.

ABOUT ME

I began traveling in March of 2008 having spent my entire life in one city (aside from momentary escapes to nearby places). I spent 37 days between Scotland, Ireland, England and France and it truly was an eye opening experience. Since then I've taken every opportunity to see new places and do new things. I love to meet new people and learn about their journeys and their own worldly activities that may not have even come into my scope of consideration.

New experiences are something I always strive towards. I love to have a good laugh with friends and feel I am a happy and outgoing guy. I take joy out of the simple things in life and am rarely without a smile on my face.

PHILOSOPHY

Take joy out of everything you do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While at home in Kingston, my girlfriend and I are happy to host folks in the spare room of our apartment so long as our work schedules allow it. Having lived here all of my life, I can confidently say that I have experienced enough of Kingston to make at least a decent tour guide.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have truly enjoyed the outgoingness of the people I have met through CS so far. The hospitality people have shown me and the good people I have met along my travels has been another great part of having had the opportunity to travel in the first place.

Knowing that this many travelers worldwide help one another out when they have the chance is really awesome. I hope that I can help other travelers enjoy their experience as much as I've enjoyed mine.

Interests

Traveling! Exploring and doing new and unique things that I discover are possible along the way. I have a great interest in music and am very much of the idea that live music is one of the great experiences in life. I can play a djembe (type of bongo) and because of my inability to learn how to whistle as a kid, have also taught myself to mouth-trumpet (ask me about it!).

I really enjoy photography! Since I've began traveling I've developed a passion for it and have worked to develop my abilities with a camera in hand. I've had a gallery in town as well as sold some of my work, which has helped to support further traveling. I also do some amateur videography which consists mainly of videos from concerts and trips I've been to.

I try and keep active, so I'm often biking around town, or playing frisbee and basketball. I am a bit of a tv junkie, though I feel television has grown as a medium for storytelling and in some ways, surpassed what movies are doing in this day and age (though I still appreciate movies as well). I enjoy football and hockey (Go Eagles! Go Habs!), cooking and eating delicious foods, board and card games, video games and just hanging out with good people. I've always had an interest in architecture and art as well, though I don't claim to be especially knowledgeable when it comes to either.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving was one of the best activities I've ever done in my life. It was fear, adrenaline, and serenity found all in the same experience.

Since then I have climbed to the peak of Wayna Picchu overlooking Machu Picchu itself - been in Vancouver when Canada won the gold medal in the Olympics - swam with nurse sharks and manta rays off the coast of Belize and seen some of the most incredible sunsets in the 5 small villages of Cinque Terre, Italy.
Each experience being incredible and uniquely life affirming.
Also, Hawaii. All of it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't have much to teach, but I will gladly share my music, movie and television collection with anyone who would like to check it out.
