About Me

Current Mission:
I'm currently on a Sheep farm in Varmahlið, Iceland! Traveling with my partner Nora (she doesn't have a Couchsurfing profile but if I sound alright I would say we'd all get along - we have many similarities) We'll be on the farm for lambing season until the end of May, and still in the country for the first week of June. Hoping to get down south to the southern highlands, meet some folks, and do some hiking and cycling in this unique and pretty sweet landscape. I haven't traveled out of the country in about 3 years, so it's exciting to be out and about, see new places and meet new folks.

ABOUT ME
(Circa 2015)
I'm Cahir!

I heard about Couchsurfing about a year ago (2014) when I was planning a long trip to Europe, and decided it would be a great way to get around and meet some folks. Turns out, it was! I had a lot of wonderful experiences surfin' at other peoples homes, and when the time is right I would love to pitch in myself and host some weary travelers.
Whilst at home I seem to spend a lot of time at local music shows and on farms.
I'm not really into partying (I don't drink, though don't care if others do or do not).
I like coffee/tea quite a bit!

PHILOSOPHY

If we never do the things that we say, what will we do?

"We all must try" - quote from someone I met, speaking of goals and achieving them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed some couches, all great experiences/people!

Interests

Farming! I've been working on a small farm in the U.S for many years, and have lived there full time for the past year - food and sustainable agriculture are very important to me, so learning and using these skills are how I keep myself going!

I've been a casual climber and hiker most of my life but recently realized how important these activities are to me - working on becoming an all-round better hiker and rock climber are solid aspirations of mine. Parkour is also a bit of a hobby, I never really lost the "kid in a playground" mentality when it comes to obstacles.

Music! I play a lot of guitar, and a little bit of hamonica and mandolin. I've been playing for years and it's something that is very special to me. I play in two hardcore punk bands here in the U.S.A with a couple pals, but I enjoy many, many different styles of music: Folk, Hardcore, Ska, Punk, Bluegrass, Gypsie-Eastern European, etc.

I also do a lot of biking, and love long bike journeys. I've done distances up to 350 miles before, and plan on doing significantly longer distances in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music! So many different genres/styles, one of the biggest influences on my life. Already kinda talked about it here... But here's some bands:
Days'n'Daze, The Flatliners, the Everymen, the World/Inferno Friendship Society, Minor Threat, Black Flag, Broken Bow, Big D and the Kids Table, Streetlight Manifesto, Mischief Brew...
Books! Fantasy, weird-fiction, sci-fi, comic books... a little bit of a nerd.
China Miéville, Terry Prachett (let's talk Discworld), Tolkein, Neil Gaimen, George R.R. Martin... The list surely goes on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ride 110 miles in one day on my bicycle!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some guitar skills (if you have a guitar, I won't be traveling with one - too bulky!)

I love to do Parkour, my skills are not very technical but I have some basics.

I can tell you a lot about punk music!

I have gathered experience about farming and sustainable argiculture, things that I'm very interestes in and love to talk about as well as pass on knowledge.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Whatever knowledge I may have that they don't, courtesy and friendship!
If I stay long enough, I'll bake some bread!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, England, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Wales
