Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couch surfing has introduced me to the most wonderful people from all over the world! I've hosted and stayed with so many incredibly talented and interesting people and have walked away from each experience with a new friend. I've hosted 4 different bands, drag performers, artists, I've been hosted by comedians, tight rope walkers, burlesque dancers and urban farmers! Couch surfing is a safe space to meet up with other genuine people and share ideas because it is built on trust, kindness and respect.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Billy Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Amy Winehouse, Hiatus Kaiyote, Beyonce, SZA, but I also love every goofy rap song on the radio. My go to karaoke song is " The Boy Is Mine" by Brandy and Monica

Movies: I've fallen in love with every Charlie Kaufman movie I've ever seen, I like movies that are weird and confusing, I also love any movie where ladies are smooching on each other.

Books: The last book that really got me going was Audre Lorde's "Zami, A New Spelling of My Name" I also really love Toni Morrison and one of my goals is to illustrate Roald Dahl's Omnibus, which is the weirdest book I think I've ever read. David and Amy Sedaris are national treasures, and I love anything from The Beat Generation.
Oh yeah and I'm in love with Miranda July, I met her once and we stared into each other's eyes for what felt like an eternity.
And my favorite thing of all is to read poetry with other people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My best friend and I are turning our house into an artist collective/music venue, we host monthly parties where people can come to a safe and inviting space to make art, play music, sit around a huge bonfire and we laugh all night long. Our next show will feature 6 bands, a comedy improv group, art vendors, live paintings, and drag performers that play the saxophone! This artist collective is especially important to me because it's been a dream of mine for a long time and it's finally becoming a reality. I'd like to use couch surfing as a platform to connect with other people all over the world and offer them a space where they can share their art and ideas with other supportive creatives.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love talking about anything to do with queer culture or the gender binary, I love going to drag performances, drinking a bunch of tequila and dancing to Whitney Houston songs. I'd love to meet anyone who can lucid dream. Also can you teach me how to play the theremin? I'd love to meet someone that knows how to screen print or does printmaking, I dropped out of art school before I learned how 😒 Oh and l'd love to learn sign language and Spanish.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to giggle, I have all the jokes I promise. I can teach you at least 10 chords on the ukulele, I can teach you how to beatbox and harmonize, I can teach you how to pick out the best most juiciest fruits. I also love doing any kind of activity where we are making art, if you want your portrait drawn or a mural done, I got you. If you need help in your garden or a friend to sit in a bookstore with for hours at a time, let me know. I can also teach you how to make a really good bonfire. Also, l think it's really strange when people don't like hearing about other people's dreams, it's my favorite, let's drink coffee and talk about why last night I dreamt I had a beard and my teeth were falling out. I'm also really good at finding four-leaf clovers all the sudden, so maybe that means I can bring you some luck? Oh last thing, if you need a pen pal I LOVE sending letters and packages with art in them, let's keep in touch through the mail!
