About Me

I'm a real bookworm, but I like to travel so much that I'd describe myself as a bookworm with a backpack.
Oh, and people would say I am open-minded.

Most of the time, I am a happy person. On those days, I am kind of Gene Kelly-ish ("Where I stand, the sun is shining all over the place")

Of course, I also have grumpy days, and they look like this :

When I was ten, I was the exact sosie of the little girl in Little Miss Sunshine.

Fortunately enough, I grew up.

I'm a vegetarian.

And I'm totally LGBTQ friendly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first discovered Couchsurfing in 2008 when I was living in Oxford, England. I first thought it was a crazy idea - and indeed, it was.

Interests

Mostly, reading and travelling (it works the other way around too).
And also plenty of little stuff, like outdoors in general, hiking and diving in particular, taking pictures, going out, blablabla.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read quite a lot, mostly novels. Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Salman Rushdie changed my life.
Also : Auster, Hesse, Tolstoi, Thoreau, Kerouac, Hunter S Thompson, Murakami...
Essays : Klein, Chomsky, Hessel, Zinn, Rabhi...
I like when people advise me books. In a way, it allows me to know them more.

As for movies, I love Michel Gondry, Emir Kusturica, Fellini, Abdellatif Kechiche, Wes Anderson and the Monty Pythons.
And I grew up watching Star Wars - that's my rebellious side.

I'm also a huge fan of the Twin Peaks serial, I think I've been looking for Dale Cooper my whole life, and I kind of found it since, because a couchsurfer once wrote me that he actually was Dale Cooper. Of course, I took him in !
More series : Black Mirror, Luther, Angels in America, Six Feet Under

Lately in my ears : Tom Waits, CocoRosie, Arcade Fire, Regina Spektor, some french oldies

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- I couchsurfed in a school, twice ! First time for the amazing carnaval de Oruro in Bolivia, and second time for the even-more-amazing carnaval de Barranquilla in Colombia. Wonderful couchsurfing experiences, each time !

- I hiked in the Sahara, and a tuareg taught me how to cook bread in the sand, under a fire

- I travelled anywhere with a friend from CS. It basically means, hitchhike with an "ANYWHERE" pannel, letting people choose where to drop us.

Teach, Learn, Share

I learnt how to cook through CS. As a result, I might not be the best cook ever, but I do cook enthusiastically.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Basics : time, smiles, chocolate - and much more

I already taught Couchsurfers how to make bracelets, how to do yoga, how to cook crêpes, and how to swear in french. Can do it again whenever.
