I am a wife and mother of three small mini-me's soon to be four. After finally completing my MA in Communication at the University of Ottawa, we moved our whole family across the country to Nanaimo, BC for a change of lifestyle. With children now it is harder to travel, so moving our home is the easiest way to travel, completing mini-trip after mini-trip from home base. So far we are really enjoying touring Vancouver Island!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My first experience "couchsurfing" was when I was 17 and stayed with a friend I met online in Washington, DC. This was a really enriching experience - getting to know an area straight from a local is invaluable.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled to Peru for three months, learned Spanish from knowing nothing to speaking it all the time (grammar very poor obvs!), was stuck on a mountain overnight next to Machu Picchu due to poor Lonely Planet guidance... stayed with locals half the trip and ahora yo tengo mas familia en Peru!

I can share with hosts knowledge of natural home birth / having a large family... give advice on any communication conundrum (organizational development, strategic marketing, etc)... stories of travelling to Peru, bravery in moving across country with no job lined up or place to stay and camping for a month with small kids while finding a place to call home, stories of travelling in the U.S, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Florida, Chicago, Virginia Beach (there are lots of interesting Americans!), stories of travelling in Mexico and off the beaten path - staying at a resort but renting a car and paying to stay in a nearby town for a night to enrich the trip...
