About Me

I accept guests (female only), but they must be extremely fond and accomodating of CATS, I have FIVE cats (crazy cat lady extraordinaire). The cats will generally run and hide from strangers so it's not alot of kitty activity, however. If you are ok with the scenario, I'd love to host you ! :-)

CURRENT MISSION

To meet new interesting people and share the suburban lifestyle here.
For visitors to DC, check out these itineraries:

ABOUT ME

I'm a professional musician, teaching at home 5 days a week and performing in concerts around the Washington metro area and East Coast. When I'm not working in classical music, I love to sing and play with a variety of world music groups. I am also in the local artistic community as a fiber and beadwork artist.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is full of opportunities for discovery...I want to constantly see what's out there to learn !

Music, Movies, and Books

Early baroque composers, choral music, music from Bulgaria, Georgia, Finland, Brazil and West Africa. Independent films are my favorite. Huge Harry Potter fan, so the guest room has a Harry Potter theme and you are welcome to browse my HP related book collection.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most memorable travels: Forbidden City, Beijing, China, Great Wall, China and Königstein Castle, Deutschland. Great Ocean Road and Blue Mountains in Australia.
Amazing experiences: I appeared on America's Got Talent playing Brazilian percussion, played violin for Pope John Paul II in Rome and sang in Chinese with an all-Chinese student choir for a Holocaust rememberance concert in Nanjing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach violin, viola and harp for a living, but I also like to teach fiber art techniques like knitting, crochet, beadweaving, weaving, sewing. I have a harp if you're interested in trying it, I'll give you a demo, also I have some Brazilian percussion instruments and enjoy giving a lesson on Maracatu music (from Recife, northern Brazil). I usually have my floor loom set up if you want to learn or relax by weaving a few inches of cloth, or if you've never learned to knit or crochet, I can get you started. I have a gigantic yarn stash in the basement !
