I could ramble on about how I have brown hair and green eyes…but to spare you, I’ll just get down to it.

I live on a tiny island in the upper left hand corner of the United States of America.

Population: 15,928 people.

I have lived here my whole life (or at least for as long as I can remember). This island has always been home. It is where I have grown up, made friends, and played sports (which include soccer, volleyball, and tennis). Growing up here in this small town has been so different from other teenagers lives. We know where everyone lives and what everyone does. In a way we are all family. We cant shop, see a movie or do anything that entertains the average teenager. Our daily lives rotate around who we know and how we spend each and every second with them.

As an eighteen year old, I have aspirations to travel the world and truly become a part of every society and community that I step into.

I am not looking for normal. I don't want to spend my life in the same place with the same people and get into a meaningless and monotonous routine.

I want to be free to observe the true essence of mankind. Through the people that I meet, I can learn about new cultures, languages and philosophies, socialize, share my opinions, and make my way from one corner of the earth to the other.

I want to see the world. Follow a map to its edges. Then keep going. Forgo all plans. Trust my instincts. Let curiosity be my guide. I want to change hemispheres. Sleep with unfamiliar stars and let this crazy journey unfold before me.
