We are not in the city of Inverness, but actually about 35 minutes outside in the very remote countryside. Visiting us is a bit like going back to the 1950s, the house is beautiful but incredibly basic and sometimes we don't even have running water! It can also get quite cold as there's no central heating, so if you're into your creature comforts this might not be the best place for you. If however you're into roughing it in a beautiful location with loads of cuddly animals to play with, this is the place for you.

I'm a busy, disorganised , slightly scatty 45 year old mum with a strong work ethic and a very open and accepting attitude.

Some days you'll see me running round like a crazy thing, juggling 25 jobs, others I'll sit by the fire all night chilling. It just depends on what needs done, need being the main word, I don't believe in the superfluous!

I believe life is for living, the grass is green where-ever you point the hose-pipe and the glass is definitely half full.

We have cats, dogs, rabbits and poultry, please don't stay if you have allergies or need routine and tidiness!

I find all people fascinating, in short bursts. I love meeting new people, hearing their stories and learning from them.

Interests

I'm rather into all things "traditional". I make wine, I forage for mushrooms and hedgerow goodies, I raise poultry for eggs and the table.

My ambition this year is to make a ground oven and a compost toilet ...

Music, Movies, and Books

This is so hard to fill in, I love so many films, listen to so many different sorts of music and have read so many books!

It is easier to say what I don't like! I don't like smooth jazz, patriotic films that make a big deal about American soldier "heros" or the old classic literature that describes every little detail. Other than those, I'll give anything a go (I'll give them a go too, but probably won't finish them!)

I like to be made to think. I like to be left with a feeling that has changed my perspective or a great twist. I love to listen to real life music being played in my sitting room or by my fire pit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I grew and then managed to keep a kid alive, fed, cleanish and (usually) clothed for twelve whole years and counting - go me!!!

I want to learn everything!

I want to practice spitting my appalling toddler level French and Russian words at you if you're French or Russian and learning new words if you speak any other language. Especially swear words because they're funny.

I can share country skills, take you foraging, show you a beautiful part of Scotland.

What I Can Share with Hosts

It'll depend on the time of year and what we're doing but I can share country skills such as animal husbandry, foraging, vegetable growing, preserving, butchery etc. I can also speak English almost fluently! 😃
