About Me

Hello there!
My name is Charles, you can call me Charlie if you'd like. I'm new to the CouchSurfing site, yet I've done my fair share of CouchSurfing. I was Born in Burbank California and grew up most of my Life in the Beautiful city of Oxnard. If you've never been, go! Though I have much respect and Love for my home I have a free spirit. Traveling is in my blood!
When I was 19 I took off in my car to Chandler, Arizona with only enough money to get me there in gas. I was clueless at to what I was going to do then suddenly remembered my dear friend Jennifer lived somewhere within the state, with her amazing family. They ended up opening their home to me and I lived there for two months.

Once I got a taste for Traveling my hunger only grew at an overwhelming rate. In the Winter of my twentieth year I urged up enough courage to hop on a train from Los Angeles to Albany, New York. From there traveled another eight hours North by bus to Potsdam, New York. It was the furthest North I was allowed to go before Canada and unfortunately I didn't have a passport at that time. Stayed in a college dorm room for three weeks with some college students I met within minutes of walking off the bus. Since those first experiences of Living I've traveled throughout the whole country, minus a couple states here and there.

I was raised by two older sister's, my brother and my hardworking single mother of four. I have a passion for photography, writing, and Living. I don't do drugs and have never been fond of them. I smoke Marijuana, but respect those who don't.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm turning my focus to CouchSurfing because in order for me to travel with no or minimal money, I will need the help from strangers such as yourself. While staying at a residence I will perform duties such as help cleaning up, dishes, laundry, grocery shopping, cooking, anything I can help with 😊

I'm also interested in meeting new and friendly faces in my travels. Being introduced to others Lifestyles and cultures is an enjoyable pleasure of mine. Storytelling, sitting around campfires, laughing, I'm all about it!

Interests

Besides the obvious of traveling, I have many things I'm passionate about. For one, I've been writing my story for six years in different journals and plan to one day create a book out of them.

This guy is big on walking!! I've walked many many miles in my lifetime and though I'm not necessarily an expert, I've walked over thirty miles in one day! Quite a few times over 20.

Photography is another favorite hobby of mine and I'd Love to share my pictures with everyone I come across!

Music, Movies, and Books

Ahh, Music sweet Music! A couple years back I was in a band as lead vocals and lyricist. I have an intense amount of stage fright which doesn't go to well with singing in front of others haha.

I was raised on Golden Oldies as a youngin like Ottis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons. Classic Rock is a biggie! A tremendously huge fan of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, which both are tattooed on me. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes, Bad Company, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, etc, etc. I can go on forever!

You may like to know that I own over 750 dvds. Ranging in classics such as, "To Kill a Mockingbird", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner", "The Wild One" and "2001 A Space Odyssey"

On to books, it's so difficult choosing only one! "1984", "The Alchemist", "Into The Wild", "The Autobiography of Malcolm X", "Born Standing Up", "Insomnia", "Another Man's War" I can go on and on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've ever done was a very simple thing. To make my dear friend Von smile. Von was an older homeless man I knew years ago, who had the warmest heart and just needed a friend to talk to. My favorite thing about him was that he always tried so hard to crack these funny jokes that never made much sense, but the joy it brought him made me laugh anyways. I miss my dear friend. Rest in paradise.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not quite sure what it's asking for here, but if I had to guess it's asking me what I'd Teach in my journey. What I would want to Learn and What I'd Share. haha I suppose that was pretty obvious.

I would want others that I encounter in my journey to understand the way of my Living and accept me for who I am, as well as me understanding everything and accepting the individuals I come across. We'd share each other's experiences and stories 😊 In other words, become friends!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Haha I believe I've just mentioned this a couple times above, but that's what I get for writing so much! I want to share all my knowledge and experience through amazing conversations with interesting and Beautiful people who can share their fair share to me me 😄
