About Me

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, USA and have just moved to Kobe, Hyogo, Japan in August of 2018 to teach English to elementary and middle schoolers in Kobe's northern district (Kita-ku) as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) of the JET Program. Right now I'm studying Japanese to eventually be good enough to attend a graduate school in Japan with classes being taught in Japanese. In terms of personality, I'm friendly and easygoing when it comes to socializing. I have a natural interest in others and hearing about their life paths.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend came from the US to visit me and travel Japan a bit, so I'm planning a trip with her to visit Tokyo and need a place to stay for one night. Haha that's the reason why I'm updating this account after so long.

Interests

I like playing piano; reading; chilling at cafes; hanging out with friends; watching variety shows, movies, anime, you name it; hearing about people's life stories; and spending quality time with close ones.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a variety of music, including classical, jazz, American pop, hip-hop, rap, and have more recently been getting into J-pop.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've started a rice ball business in high school, which made it's way to be included in an article in the LA Times. Here's a link to the article with me on the cover, https://www.latimes.com/local/education/la-me-food-studies-20151126-story.html

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to make riceballs, speak English, a fair amount of Japanese, can make a mean okonomiyaki, and can teach music theory.

What I Can Share with Hosts

This time around I'm only looking to stay for one night and it'll be with a friend, so we can have a great conversation and hear about each other's stories for one night. That's all I really have to offer.
