About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To re-imagine myself by traveling to exotic places around the world.

ABOUT ME

A former travel industry exec who got burned out making it happen for others and just wants to do it for himself now. Helicopter pilot, road tripper (12K miles around USA/Canada/Mexico in 2009), professionally trained chef, free spirit, life-long learner, anthropology-archaeology major, compassionate, risk taker, hiker, biker, walker, and can tie a cherry stem into a knot with my tongue. I can twist wrenches, swing a hammer, knit and sew. I write all kinds of things and believe I can do anything I want to do. I also have a long career in personnel management, including operations and sales forces.

I'm gay.

PHILOSOPHY

Life's too short to get stressed out about things. Possessions are just things and really not worth worrying over losing, breaking or never having. I believe if I show respect and do kind things for others, I'll receive it in some measure in return.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I look for new adventures where ever I go, and am particularly interested in culinary aspects of travel. I have done a lot of volunteer work with youth and in civic organizations.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far. Real new to this!

Interests

Archaeology, cooking, unfamiliar cultures, dance, hike, music, folkloric, travel, photography, videography, journaling, radio broadcasting, yoga, road trips ... I moved to Hawaii in 2012, living on the Big Island, basking in sunshine and the night time glow of the volcano.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies with a backdrop of some interesting destination, documentaries portraying people overcoming and coping with adversity; just about any kind of music. I like movies that show insights to life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Poked flowing lava in Hawaii with a stick; climbed an erupting volcano in Guatemala; driven thousands of miles sightseeing USA, Canada, Mexico; tons of national parks in the USA and off-roading through the Southwest; driven across the Copper Canyon (most only take the train--done that too); Great Barrier Reef .. done a lot!
