Chen grew up in Jingdezhen, known as the "Porcelain Capital" of China. The long run history and the international fame of the city has instilled her with the life-long ambivalence between traditionalism and modernism. This essentially becomes the driving force for her to embark on a quest to explore and discover the answer to solve the inner ambivalence with her little heart and wide-opened eyes.

As a teenage, she was actively involved in board and card games, outdoor excursions. She liked reading history books, biographies and of course comic books. She even got caught reading comic books in the class. :)).

After high school, she scored top 10 in her province at the college entrance exam, and received Entrance scholarship at Zhejiang University. Four-year college life transformed her from a shy and introvert little girl into a spunky and determined big one. To further extend her quest, she went to US to continue her graduate school, where she learned to become independent, resourceful and extravert. She spent four years in Northwestern to pursue the PhD study, however, the more she gets touch with industry, the more strongly she desires to build technologies to improve people's lives. She believes with the power of all the data available, with the power of computational clusters, and with the power of the advanced AI algorithms, a lot of unknowns would be unlocked, a lot of little annoyances and frictions that suck up time for us would be stamped out, one by one.

Now she lives in Silicon Valley where there exists a lot of extraordinarily smart and interesting people. She constantly finds inspirations and interesting ideas over the conversations with her friends, her housemates, her colleagues or just random people she bumps into.
