Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had no couch surfing experience until Sept 25, 2012
We surfed in five different cities and it was a fantastic experience. Couch surfing allowed us to meet wonderful people, learn about customs and cuisine and make new friends.
While in China in 2015 we stayed in hotels and hostels. However, we wanted to meet some local people and were fortunate that several couch surfers responded and arranged to meet us. Our China trip was enriched by this!! Yes we met seven members of the Chinese couchsurfing community and they were all helpful - Generous, kind hearted and interesting.
We met a wonderful couchsurfing host in Lisbon in December 2016. Antonio!! He met us at our hotel and walked with us to Commercio square, showed me the local cherry drink, quick shot on the sidewalk with locals!! and tried to teach me to say pasties de nata instead of Belem tarts - a lovely visit for a few hours with a local from Lisbon.
In the latter months of 2017 my son and I are once again going to Europe starting in Norway and I do hope to meet locals. Perhaps they will host us for one or two nights or maybe they will take a bit of time to share an hour or two with us.
We will also try to meet locals in Spain, Serbia, Croatia and Prague.
I host to learn about my guest's country and culture and to act as a tour guide in my own community.
