i went to medical school in munich, germany and paris, france during which time i developed my passion for long distance motorcycle trips. after qualifying i worked in england for several years. i also worked for the oil industry, taking care of their workers in azerbaijan, turkmenistan and nigeria. followed by a period working as on board physician on cruise ships. then i decided to semi retire to the beautiful costa brava ...

couchsurfing is the digital version of the age old philosophical concept of "paying it forward": do something nice for someone random just like that - who knows, one day you may be that random person for whom such an act is just what he/she needs ... you can also call it "karma": loading your karma with good energy is always a good idea ... i started hosting and the traveling experience i had later on as a couchsurfer were definitely a case of "good karma"! in any case: it is about sharing a day or two of life ... and because we do live in the real world, one has to be a bit selective: people who do not provide any real info about themselves, nothing about their education or profession have obviously not understood the spirit - and will not be accepted as guests as a matter of principle.

when i host couchsurfers i try to create the "around the campfire" athmosphere you may have experienced on long trips, when people gather spontaneously around a fire on the beach ... the best evenings developed out of meeting like minded people this way and this is why it is necessary to pre-select a bit: if you are a tea total, vegan hillary supporter who needs a "safe space" to protect him-herself from opinions other than leftist: please move on! the same applies to disciples of saint greta, the holy prophet of the man-made-climate-change religeon. as for SJWs or anyone inclined that way: do not even think of showing up at my place ... my patience with deluded fools is rather limited, i have no time for snowflakes and i am NOT the right host for you ...
